In 1987 Desmond Decker performed at Camden Dingwalls and it was recorded for a live album. Does anyone know if there was a video made that night or if there is any footage available anywhere?

google them. They are there, and they are great! I know what you mean. We did not have that option decades back.

They are fiendishly clever in their simplicity but naughty boy Desmond gives them a subtle twist to tease 😁

I was there, we drank, we sang, we loved, it was magical. Maybe it doesn't come over on the video but trust me, we still talk about all the nights we saw Desmond in Camden. I remember the sweat dripping off the ceiling, I remember being arm in arm with strangers. That night we showed Desmond pure love and he gave it back in spades. If this was the gig that had selector as support then you know by the time he hit the stage the room was just bouncing. It also be the night Mark Lamarr was a dj. Not sure about that one though. Where ever Desmond was, there was a party. Ireland, Scotland, everywhere loved Desmond Ska, ska,ska...the king.

Desmond was not Rastafarian. But he wrote and sang about rude bwai/rude boy culture. He is also one of those folks responsible for 'discovering' Bob Marley. One does not need to share a religion or a skin tone or ethnicity or gender ID to make great music together. All One ~ ONE LOVE

I think his name was Roberts. Steve Roberts I think. I saw his obituary in the Guardian when he died in 2006, six months after Desmond. He was only 54. He was a working musician who had played in different bands for many years. Apparently he had looked after and maintained the Desmond 's band's van. Obviously he could play reggae music alright.

On the original from 1968, the guitarist was Lynn Taitt the top Rocksteady guitar man of all time.
