@@CountryTactical There's a pretty good diagram in the old Model T manuals that show what positions the spark and throttle levers should be in for various conditions. I usually leave the spark fully advanced for regular driving, though. You'll find that the car has a lot more power and speed, and like @Rogerjoselyn said, the car won't overheat.

I have a 1925 Ford roadster, I've had it up to 55MPH. If you'd like to improve reliability the main thing I'd do is get a new reproduction radiator and remove the water pump. The only place to get a radiator these days is "Brassworks" in California. Looks like you're running on battery the whole time. You won't get much faster than 35- maybe 40 running on battery, you need to see if the magneto in the engine is working. The coils are meant to run on magneto. Besides properly maintaining the ignition system my new radiator made my car perform much better for speed. Once I get up towards 45 I reach down and lean the carburetor till the speed continues to clime. Running leaner would cause my old rad to immediately boil over.

Ok, you kids (said with respect) are having great fun. My best friend and I both had model Ts in the late 60’s and early 70’s. We drove em just like yours sometimes without the body at all. Imagine boat cushions strapped to the gas tank and the rear cross member. I held on the steering wheel, he the frame. Exhaust burned his boat cushion. Wow this brings back memories. I still have mine, drove it today to a school where I mentor kids. What a hit it was. One girl even said it was way cooler than a Lamborghini. Used to drive it in snow and throw snowballs at friends. [do have to chime in with others, watch the language, it adds nothing to the fun vibes] I’d post a pic of me on mine in about 1971 if I could figure out how. I had mine doing 37 mph today. But not with school kids in it. You are making memories and helping this geezer relive his. My friend has passed or I sure would forward this to him?

Driving with the left stalk on the steering column, all the way forward (engine timing in full retard), will cause it to run Badly, run slower than expected, and overheat. Once the engine is running, Advance the timing by pulling this lever back, about 3/4 of it's travel. You'll hear the engine smooth out. Adjust it to where it runs best. These are your problems (with it) in a nutshell.

It pulled hay rakes and hay wagons, on a farm in central Ohio, before having all of its sheet metal sold, during the Depression. It's sat in a barn from 1932 until seven or eight years ago...
