Beretta 84F saved my life on July 7, 1992 after getting shot in Chicago during an attempted carjacking. I've since carried a Glock 43, 43x, and 19, as well as the Sig P365, 365xl and a S&W .38. But the .380 Beretta will always be my favorite gun as it saved my life.

That actually summed up this comments section pretty aptly... Too fat, want a single stack. Too weak, should be 30SC or 9mm. Too expensive, even though it's a machined frame. Too heavy, even though the entire point of the 80 line since the seventies was to have a shootable mid size low recoil platform. Too oldschool, even though it is, by design, a hammer fired DA/SA. The world is full of fickle bitches. Somehow companies like ZEV and Wilson Combat still turn a profit.

As many others have said, the gun seems pretty cool. But the price really needs to come down closer to $500-$600. It feels like the last couple years of gun releases have all come out twice as expensive as they should. @@caseygreb2062 According to HumbleMarksman it can be carried cocked and locked: up for safety alone and up again for decocker. The DA trigger pull is 5 frickin' pounds. Yeah, I'd say $750 for the base black 80X is more than worth it given the rail and optics cut. Are you seriously expecting a modern, all metal pistol to cost as much as a plastic fantastic?! There are already polymer 380 options that would suit your budget out there so why complain? 92Xs are in the $600-$700 range; add an LTT trigger job and you're at $800+. The 92X however cannot be carried cocked and locked for those who roll that way.

@@HollowBurden If I'm understanding you correctly, then my response is Beretta has the black model MSRP at $799 on their website, so $750 from Omaha Outdoors is pretty typical of their pricing. If it could take 30 Super Carry, that'd be pretty neat. Potentially 15 rounds, I imagine in an easily concealable package with a better trigger than you're likely to get on a polymer subcompact and a rail to boot. I expect it to be a little less mass market compared to your sub-compact polymer guns that run $500 and less, so it wouldn't do much to help push the caliber to relevance, but still seems like it could be good.

If a 1911 platform can increase capacity up to 12 rounds using the .30 Super Carry, then a Beretta better be able to bump that up to 17, if not downright 20.

I dont take it to the range quite as often as I should. I am anxious for this to be at my local shop to put into the hand. Beretta Cheetah's are the perfect size (today we would call it "mid-size" but we all know it should be labeled as Duty Size) for this caliber.

Premium price and can't use my 84 mags? Totally worth it, though, because what we really needed was to be able to put a red dot on and hang shit off of an otherwise easily concealable pistol... 2:23 He just contracted himself. He said that .380 allows them to use the direct blowback system, which is true, but then goes on to say that it also allows the use of a lighter recoil spring. That's not true, or rather both things can't be true at the same time in the same gun design. Direct blowback guns need a heavier recoil spring to help keep the slide closed until the chamber pressure drops to a safe level. Generally speaking, a direct blowback .380 will be at least as difficult to rack as a locked breech 9mm, and in my experience is often more so. You can get locked breech .380s (eg Ruger LCP) and they are easy to rack, but direct blowback .380s are usually comparatively difficult to rack, and have snappier recoil. I think Beretta should have made this new Cheetah a locked breech design, to really benefit from the reduced recoil impulse of the 380 cartridge.

Why do people assume everyone wants to carry the smallest, lightest, most compact pistols in .380 and 9mm? Plenty of people carry medium and full sized handguns. My smallest carry guns are a Glock 29 and a SIG P239 in .357 SIG. I prefer even larger guns. 3” revolvers and full sized 1911’s. I don’t have a .380 but want to add one to my pistol battery. The 80X is right up my alley and I doubt I’m the only one. “A .380 that size doesn’t make sense when the Ruger LCP Max and the SIG P365 in .380 exists.” Right. Because everyone’s wants and needs are the exact same as yours. People seriously need to get over themselves.

Exactly. I've got a Glock 42, and you know why? It's a throwaway gun, something I won't be heartbroken if I have to use it and it ends up permanently in an evidence locker. It's not pretty or pleasurable to shoot, there's a reason it's cheap. Micro compact plastic 9mms are even more harsh. Anyone comparing this Beretta to a P365, LCP, Hellcat, Security 380, or any of the other much cheaper micro compact carry pistols is missing the point.

Hello my friends. I suggest the Ruger LCP Max for a 380. They're around $400. You also don't have to buy aftermarket red dot plates, cause it's an actual 380 and not the size of a Micro 9. Heck you can buy two of them for the price of one 80x. Enjoy.
