Thank you very much for this upload! Reminds me of the times spent with my Dad and I. Got to meet Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins one time there when I was 7 . . .boy, was that nickname appropriate for him 😆

I lived behind Detroit Dragway and the smell Saturday nights was great. I put my pillow in the window so I could smell the fumes loved the dragway.

Well in 1964 I was 18 and started Drag Racing and Detroit Dragway was the place to start. Took my 1954 Chev. 6 cyl. and won a nice big trophy by wining in the E.T. ( elapsed time ) division and was booed on my way home ( being a Canadian ) Never forgot that !!! Name on my car was The Six Pence . Have no idea where that came from, must have just sounded good back then. Funny thing about all this was when I got home with the trophy which was about 2 ft.tall, my brother -in -law who plays a lot of organized sports and had a few trophies of his own couldn't believe the size of mine that I won in one day of racing. His trophies were about 8 in. tall and it took him all year to get one. Oh life is GOOD ! eh.

Love the comment Denny! I liked Wayne for years, but not in the end. I went to his wedding, went to his home in Florida, asked if I could use his address for plates on my motor-home and he said no... it wasn't a big deal, I was just disappointed with him. We haven't spoken since. So again I believe this story of your to be funny! Life is good.

Detroit. According to Evel Knievel, "Detroit is a "tight fisted, bear drinking town"" I saw him jump decades ago in a Detroit arena.
