Chinese immigrants built a thriving Chinatown in Detroit starting in the 1880s-then rebuilt it when their enclave was erased by freeway expansion in the city. LSA doctoral student Lily Jiale Chen curated an exhibit at the Detroit Historical Museum that celebrates the stories of Chinese Americans in Detroit, from their migration to the present-day community.
