My favorite building in Detroit, my grandfather worked there, saw Nancy Wilson in concert, Saturdays seeing plays as a theater subscriber, allergy shots and the Double Day bookstore.

It’s still very beautiful. I remember going with my grandmother to visit her doctor (Dr Marie Corbeille) back in the ‘50s. Long time ago!

Even if you had all the money in the world, you could not replicate this building today. That is the sad part. Our society created works of architectural art back when this was built, but no longer. All the craftsmen and artisans are gone. To bad this country didn't save more buildings from this era. Thanks for sharing.

Truly sad. Thanks to stupid modernism, architecture like this doesn't matter to them, which is frustrating and angry to me.

What a beautiful building! This building was built when America was America. You will never see new building built with this kind of architecture. Everything built these days is made of glass, steel, square shaped. Then again, America is not what it was. I miss my country.

The depression cut short many incredible buildings. Imagine what would have been.

Anyone who has every built a house of cards knows this was NOT built by the craftsmen of the forties..... in TWO years! LOL Oh no? Well, we are but one generation removed from the thousands of workers that supposedly built the place, lets hear from a dozen or so, of their children and or grandchildren. Of course being part of SUCH the project would garner it's recounting at a family gatherings at least a time or two over a lifespan. As a craftsmen who spent years working in Manhattan in high-rises overlooking central park, I can tell you, the work in that building is out of this world PERIOD!!! The site work alone is unreal for the forties. The real magic of that building however is the floor and the ceiling.

A musical performance at the Fisher left me awestruck and frankly, frightened. A sinking feeling as I starred point blank into the gross and incongruous “story” I/we’ve mindlessly excepted. A recent trip to Meadowbrook Hall Castle I learned of Mr Corrado Pardudci and his prolific and outright, unrivaled work. Of which ANY.... any ONE single installation would do more than a sufficient job in representing an ENTIRE LIFETIME’s BODY OF WORK! ..of any mere mortal craftsman, that is. *** Please understand I *ONLY* suggest the visual representation of the “story” is unsettling to this craftsman, artist, musician and martial artist. I am clueless to the nature of the “who, what, where and why”.

Beautiful video coverage...but the sound track stinks!!! Replace that modern crap with fine music contemporary with the building!! The Fisher Theatre in it's hey day had a fine theatre organ... theatre organ sound track would be just the ticket!!!

I live close. Everything in the apartment I live in is made in the USA/Midewest and most things still work like the space heaters, old rotery style like intercoms to speak into work, the origional mail slots look ten years old and they are 100 years old, the old style spooky lift elevator works fine still running but modern for it's time as it is eletric. Nothing beat American products and the billionaires gave up o the USA. Why cant they move their headquarters to China and keep the jobs here at least (I get why it is a bad joke).
