The Devanha lifeboat is on loan to the Shrine of Remembrance from the Australian War memorial and is the centre-piece of the new Galleries of Remembrance exhibition space.
The Devanha lifeboat is one of the original boats from the troop ship Devanha used during the Gallipoli landings on the morning of 25 April 1915.
The lifeboat carried 36 men from 12th Battalion Headquarters and 3rd Field Ambulance and was rowed the final 200 metres to shore under heavy fire. It was later used to ferry the wounded to ships waiting off Gallipoli.
