Obviously we're here to network. And I've been a member of this group for 18 years. Those 2 gentlemen in the corner for 19 to 20 years, now. Is that kind of scary? Why do we keep coming back? Why do each of you keep coming back? And what do we do?
There are several of us who have more than 10 years experience in here, right? How many people have got 10 plus years of networking in this group?
Most BNI groups don't have that much experience. How and why do we stay?
We've been able to develop relationships and not just business relationships. Think of some of your best customers that you have that are in your business. Who are the customers that help you build your business? They're probably the ones you have some kind of relationship outside the business.
For the football game Monday night, I had one of my prospects, I used to work with him many years ago in another location. He called me out and said, "Hey, come watch the game with me and my family. I want to introduce you to my family. I met his wife, his son, his (son's) girlfriend, his daughter. We watched the Bills - Steelers game. They were all Steelers, fans. so I was already prepped because I've been in Miami and watched the Bills - Dolphins game. Kept myself in control. But the thing is, that we talked. About business, family, our interests.
That's why we do our 1-2-1s. That's why it's important to be in this meeting every week. Because there's networking before & after. When you don't come, people forget about you. And I've seen in BNI over the years, and people tell you. "This is my last day and I'm always gonna remember you. And I'm going to refer to you." So when is the last time you got a referral from them? Not very often unless you had a great relationship. So it's important to be present; To do your 1-2-1s; To learn about the things that people like and know. Because those are the platforms and strengths to introduce them. That's who was talking about. Thank you.
