Farming is not about planting, it's developing the soil. Well said.

Hello Jon, what an inspirational video this is. It should be compulsory to watch and teach your video in all agricultural colleges worldwide, instead, our farmers are taught which poisonous chemicals, herbicides and insecticides, are deemed as vital to control weeds and insects. This practice in the UK, has led to the near extinction of a number of native birds and other forms of wildlife and fauna. Thank you for sharing your methods and views with us.

I am impressed, I have a small garden here in Thailand, I wonder how you can have beautiful salads, kales and some other kind of leafy vegies like these without them to be eaten by these giant snails. I just gave up with many vegetables because I can't fight with these snails, they are far too strong for me 😅

I love this. I found the same thing with my carrots. The first year they just died. The second year I got some very small ones. But this year I'm getting big carrots. I'm so happy about that. I'm even burying bones and meat in my soil. And the soil is looking really good.

Thank you for the videos. You are very inspiring. We, like you, love to experiment with our growing techniques. We live in Arizona where our soils are alkaline and there is an extreme water shortage. This year I tried new techniques I have learned from you and other people like you. It is the first time i feel like I am making progress. I have vigorous plants and I am using very little water.

I don't have a farm but developing soil is also one thing I worry about. Many places tend to have clay soil here. Also, have your tried growing kakawate (-gliciridia- gliricidia)? They grow pretty fast and nitrogen-fixing from what remember. You can then chop and drop. Goats would also eat the leaves. Here in the Philippines the leaves are also used to make pet shampoo so that's an additional income stream if you decide to keep them after they're done fixing the soil. Saw a vid where they started growing it along with corn in Africa. They basically started using it everything (wicker, etc).

Hi, Jon.. did you dig the ground around the planting area?.. Or did you just add the grass, the wood, the branch then the grass again?.. and then put the bad ground on top?..

Great video Jon. We are a waste to resource organic compost producer in the middle of Isaan in North East Thailand and this is exactly what I tell our customers to do.... add compost to existing soil and then keep it protected from the sun with mulch and watch the soil change and improve over time. Customers usually buy the compost from us as don't want to wait too long to make their own or can't make enough themselves easily.

I recomended you must try JADAM method. Its more worth than convensional organic. Cz its more cheaper, without molase, sugar, and monoculture microorganism. And in first time you plant, you will get good soil. Better harvest. Jadam organic farming, ultra low cost farming.

Thankyou john for amazing work, but the communist grass relatively invasive plant, it can grow uncontrolled and occupying more area, do you have opinion about it?
@JonJandaiLifeisEasy

What ever grow fast it is good for nature because that is the way the soil heal itself but human don't care about self-healing of the soil. We want what we want that is why we have to just what we don't like as invasive species. There is no invasive species in the world .We only don't understand them.
