I was going to post that the 12 inch (dws780) is still on sale for $499. I picked one up last week for $425. I wanted to compare prices and I couldn't find the 10 in dual bevel anywhere. It looks like it's been discontinued.

Good deal! I still see the 10” dw717 for sale at Canadian tire and Home Depot here in Nova Scotia. Regular price is usually around $650

Where abouts are you located? I would like to upgrade to the 12” one of these days!

@@soulfurnitureanddesign northern Wisconsin. Amazon has the 12 inch for 499. Looks like even the dewalt website says the DW717 is discontinued. I'm sure there's probably plenty of physical stores with inventory kept to sell. I just do my shopping online cause the nearest tools store is 45 minutes away.

@soulfurnitureanddesign I didn't quite need the new miter saw yet, but for that price it was a no brainer to upgrade my starter saw (Metabo hpt 10 inch miter saw) which was way better than I expected my beginner tool to be when I bought it a year and a half ago. I never even swapped blades and it was a great little saw.

I bought this saw a few years ago. I haven't used it a great deal but I can say that 1) The dust collection is lousy: the tube which passes through the centre of the saw is ridiculously narrow and convoluted and the opening sits too far back from the blade: sawdust spews out on both sides. 2) The bevel clamp failed to hold the cutting head after about 30 degrees. I had to take out the dust collection tube - a pig of a job: easier if you remove the motor casing first - to get at the screw holding the clamp handle so that I could tighten the hex nut underneath. If I replaced the handle with the nut tightened enough for a 45 degree cut, then it wouldn't release enough to reset the bevel to zero. I've left the handle off and now use a spanner. Apart from these design faults , its a nicely made item.

So far I’ve been lucky (fingers crossed) I haven’t had any issues with it yet. The dust collection could definitely be improved on but it seems good enough compared to saws I’m used to lol
