I just unboxed my new 735x to day 5.2.2021 and the lowering handle is very hard to turn up or down. I took my time and made it all the way to the top and it came down but had to use some force . Not sure if I want to use it and hope it gets loose of send it back. Has not planed any lumber yet.

@@DwoodStudiostoday after working with the planer, I believe the chain tensioner as a little tight. After running it up and down a couple of times, it is doing just fine. A little stiff but as one guy said, it won't vibrate down while planing. I ran a board today and it did a great job. Thank for the advise anyway.

you’ll also get a better finish if you plane the wood with the grain rather than against it. The rough board you showed was planed against the grain.

Very nice review video D-wood. I too bought my DeWalt DW735X on Amazon and it does a great job. I planed 12 inch wide by 10 foot long red oak and popular boards with mine for kitchen cabinets and it did a great job with no snipe. On mine, I added a Wixey WR510 Planer Digital Readout and it allows me to take down to a 1/64 of an inch off a board if I wish. Once this digital readout has been calibrated correctly, its dead on balls accurate. The only problem I found installing this digital readout on my planer was the installation instructions are very confusing. I ended up tossing the install instructions away and watched a KZitem video on how to install it and calibrate it, which made the install a breeze. As for the wood chip extractor on this planer, the instructions say DO NOT hook up a shop vacuum to this port because the planer's internal blower motor ejects the wood chips out much faster than a shop vacuum can keep up, causing the planer to bog down due to the vacuum's hose clogging up. I just let the chips fly out of mine and clean it up later.

Great video. I just bought a 735x - my Christmas gift to myself this year, and so far I'm not impressed - or I should say I was impressed when it was feeding boards through, but it stopped on about board #6. The feed roller seems to have stopped, but I am going to try and reset the turret stop. On another KZitem video, a guy shows how one of the cogs got worn down and this stopped his feeder from working. One of the boards I put through was slightly warped, but this was a piece of cedar that is less than 1/2 in thick so if this broke the cog for the rollers or something else the machine isn't very rugged. I was careful to check all of the boards I put through for staples or nails - even pulling out a staple or two. How have things gone with your 735 since this video? It looks like this was 4+ years ago.

It was also evident that someone else had already opened the box and then sent it back. I'm sending it back too. Can I have your old Delta? Lol! Hey great video and nice Grunt Style t-shirt. I just bought my first planner the other day (the DeWalt 735) and was planning down some 1x6 Pine boards and after about 30 or 40 feet I couldn't even take off more than a quarter turn of the wheel sometimes even less than that and it would still bog down and turn itself off. It never tripped the circuit breaker on the planer and it never tripped the circuit breaker at the house. Is that pretty typical or do you think I might have something wrong with my planer?
@DwoodStudios

Since I received the replacement. I haven’t had any issues except the drive wheels slipping some and I have to pick the piece to get it going and that if the dust collection isn’t clearing the debris then it bogs down. Take the top off and take the black plastic shroud off and make sure it’s not clogged. Other wise it may be the knives dull or a mechanical problem
@michaelweatherford4954

Hey brother! Like the video! I was blessed to be given one of these planers and its my first. However there was a catch. The mechanism that raises and lowers the planer is not working. I know that there is a chain inside and that it wraps around all four screws. I'm guessing that's it's a binding issue or maybe a lubrication issue. I say lubrication because the gentleman who gave it to me showed me that the dust collector connection was cracked and allowing dust into the main body...maybe fouling it up. Anyway, have you seen or heard of this? Thanks and ROLL TIDE!
@DwoodStudios
7 жыл бұрын
Michael weatherford I have seen some other video about that I think. Since I have just gotten mine I haven't had any issues except the dust port clogging which caused the rollers to slip. If you take the top off you should be able to see the chain I believe and should be able to tell what's going on. Might be worth a partial tear down and cleaning

Just recently got the dw735 myself. On mine it's nearly impossible to raise the cutter head. The wheel turns extremely hard. It lowers easily. I've tried lubricating the four threaded posts and the chain with little improvement. Tried calling Dewalt tech support for suggestions. Their advice consisted of "Are you turning the wheel counter clockwise" ? Very disappointing! I have heard of others having the same problem. It seems a little like your initial problem only in reverse. I can return it, but that would be another week or two of waiting. Any thoughts?

I sent it back and got another and same problem so I called and the Amazon employee told me the reason they can sell them so cheap is because they have less labor in quality on the ones they receive to keep cost down. There are some gun manufacturers that do the same which isn't the best idea In the world
