Nice jig and set up. My DWS779, which I purchased several years ago on sale for $349, came with the built-in stops. I added the DWS780 shadow line light parts and a Ridgid folding stand that I got on sale for $99. I’m totally pleased with the saw and stand. The light kit is worth having but I wouldn’t pay the price of a DWS780 just to get the built-in light, especially when you can add it to a 779 and still spend far less than the price of the 780. Other than the decals and the light, there’s virtually no difference between the saws, which DeWalt has confirmed.

Yes, exactly! The only difference is the crown bevel pawls and the light kit. I am thinking about adding the light, we shall see! Maybe I’ll post a video with how to add the light kit on the saw if I get it! Stay tuned and subscribe , I’ll be posting more helpful videos! Do you plan on making a crown jig? I’d your doing crown, it does make it very efficient, especially if your solo. Thanks!

@@theefficientbuilder5386 There’s an old video that shows how one guy added the light. It includes the part numbers. An updated detailed video would be great.

It actually depends on the Type of the DWS780. There are at least 4, DWS780 Type 1, Type 2, Type 20, Type 21. I think I've also seen a Type 22. I dunno if these now correspond to a two digit year, but I do know that the original Type 1 and Type 2 have the higher quality motor components. The newer DWS780 Type 20 and later have downgraded internals that are the same now as the DWS779. So, if you can get your hands on a Type 1 or Type 2 it's worth the extra cost. Otherwise go with the DWS779.

@@perry.dillard can you explain more? How do you know they have different motors in them? And lower quality? And how can I tell if I'm getting the better version with the better motor if I buy online?

Salve ma è possibile che il piano rotante non sia a livello con le basi di appoggio esterne? Risulta uno scarto di qualche millimetro? Grazie

Nice jig man although I strongly recommend wearing a mask or attaching a vacuum to the saw. As you know these aren't the best in collecting dust and sometimes even clog with pine. My dws780 is connected to a semi professional Karcher WD6 which turns on automatically. Cutting so much MDF is basically asking for lung cancer and other respiratory diseases. Keep up the good work man, Cheers

I don’t believe the motors are different now. DenofTools has a good video on this. As we consumers thought we were getting the same exact saw less the XPS, Dewalt switched BOTH models to a lesser quality motor. There was a short period of time where the 780 had a better grade, but they costed down that build. Now, Dewalt is making higher margin on the 780z

Correct, both the 779 and 780 now have the lower quality motor.

The motors are different also. Same output, but different internals. The parts diagram shows the difference.
