We see harrys proyection telling dexter " Are you sure? Dont forget the first rule of the code" as we see dexter manipulating evidence to save harrison. Harrys starts fading away , but with a smile on his face , seeing that the last act of his son is not one of selfishness , but one of love. Now they want me to believe at the last minute Harrison wants to be normal. How can he be normal when he just killed his father. Then there was that whole build up about Batista making us believe that Batista would confront Dexter but all he said was he would be there in the morning so we never got to see that confrontation. I honestly feel like the way they presented Harrison set things up for another season where we find out that instead of what Dexter thought (Harrison would/did turn out like him) he ACTUALLY turns out to be like Dexter's brother Brian. They can show us stuff from the 3 yrs Harrison was on his own before he found Dexter (namely him killing a bunch of people) and then pick up where they left off after Harrison left Iron Lake. The plot twist could be that Dexter wakes up in a prison cell because he didnt die when Harrison shot him. Some cop or fed could turn to Dexter to help them catch a serial killer which he does and then they come back with more cases. One of the cases that Dexter is helping with he realizes that the killer is Harrison and ends up escaping from prison and then we have a REAL showdown between Dexter and Harrison but the way the season goes, you know and are prepared for this to be the FINAL season/episode. Harrison was too good of a liar and sociopath for me to believe what they wanted us to believe in the finale, that all the sudden hes a good guy. Yea no lol great review though!

This season of Dexter New Blood was pretty good, and also intense, but the ending plot over the last 2 episodes felt rushed. I don't think it was too out of character for him to kill Logan. The last time he felt the net coming down around him even though nobody else believed it and he was fairly safe, he had Maria there in the shipping container to kill her. Deb ended up doing it but the only reason that whole situation was set up in the first place was because Dexter set Maria up to come there so he could kill her. We've seen that if he starts feeling trapped he will do what it takes to get out. Somewhere in the show he said something about how caging a wild animal makes them go crazy and lash out, talking about other killers. This was the first time he was playing his game and it wasn't working for him. Bishop wasn't buying it and kept bringing out unexpected pieces of evidence. He doesn't know what else she has but hasn't shown yet. We've seen how strongly he reacts to just the thought of jail or death penalty. I don't think it's outside of his character to be sitting in the jail cell thinking how much they might have on him, all the questions he'd have to face about how he knew about Kurt's display room, that his usual game isn't working, and he has this moment of suddenly yelling at his Deb inner monologue that it's enough and lashes out as a wild animal backed in to a corner.

Totally agree. He killed Logan because he's a killer and he enjoys the killing. He let Harrison believe he did it too save more lives in the long run, but he only agreed with Harrison when he said that to keep him onside. Dexter through Harrison would help him escape but killing the coach was one more innocent life taken in addition to La guerta, deb, doakes, Rita and more. And dexter finally realises it when Harrison tells him to open his eyes and see what he's done. I think it was a beautifully executed ending

I REALLY thought (and hoped) that's where they were going with it. Dexter faces his only option: run away again and leave Harrison without a father, or be the example and turn himself in. That scene between them could have been amazing. End with Harrison visiting Dexter in prison, and then a shot of Dexter returning to his cell, sitting on the bed and staring into the camera. You could even have a line where he says something like there are plenty of evil people to kill in here, or something. What we got was easy, undercooked and unsatisfying. What made it worse was the failed attempt at trying to make his monologue heartwarming, and having Harrison kind of smile at the end. He literally just killed his father, and had his new life turned upside down once again.

I totally agree with your assessment of the season and also the finale. If there is such a thing as a Harrison show after all of this, then I most certainly will not watch it because I found that character super annoying and quite frankly he was not the reason we were watching Dexter in the first place. I almost wish that Michael C Hall and whoever else is in charge watches all of these no nonsense reviews and decide to strike this season from Canon and just do a redo of all of it properly, as if this did not happen at all. We all love Dexter and this most certainly did not do him or his character any justice with such another terrible ending. This really could have gone another two or three episodes to wrap things up with all of the interesting story arcs that were now created but they chose a very fast sloppy exit to this season. One of the biggest problems I had with this was as you pointed out people were acting out of character and it was so glaringly obvious that it was hard to stomach. Thank you for your review video.

If they didn't strike Dexter Season 7 from canon, they aren't going to with this one. It honestly feels like they had material for 12-14 episodes & decided to cram it into 10. Dexter going off after some ketamine dealers was way out of character just for that dumb plotline to be what does him in? Him killing Logan when he totally could've pinned it on Kurt if it wasn't for him going after some small fry dealers? It's like they intentionally wrote him into a corner because spending the time (and the money I suppose) having Bautista confront him & hear Dexter's word against Angela's, having Angela have her suspicions but having them quashed by Kurt taking the fall & her desire to investigate Dexter being erased by the discovery of what Kurt's done, it was way too open-ended to wrap up. Almost like the lead actor wasn't interested in doing it for more than one season, so they had to take their ideas, then throw a spanner in them to make sure he dies at the end...

The ending was just rushed. The episode was great apart from the last ten minutes. If they had made it a 90 minute episode the ending wouldn't have felt so forced. I'm not bothered about him being killed but after watching that 1. it felt rushed and shoehorned in (even though we all knew it was coming) and it needed more breathing space. 2. Him being killed by the cop or being arrested and going to deathrow would have been better. Could have ended the series on that rather than rush it and just let people down again

You nailed a major issue at the start of your review: the new series lacked the dark humor of the original show, and without that, it made it a lot less engaging and entertaining. It also made the ridiculous story elements stand out more because the show felt more self-serious and somber, and it was hard to take certain things seriously. In the old show, there were a lot of goofy plot elements that you could kind of overlook or find to be endearing because it had a somewhat campy and bright vibe. Even the theme song had punch to it! I guess what I'm trying to say is that Dexter at face value is a really dark concept - involving serial killers, brutal murders, etc. - but the bright Miami aesthetic and silly/somewhat campy vibe of the original show helped offset that. With New Blood, the dark winter tone and somberness of the characters didn't provide enough comedic relief. I feel like the podcast host was as close as we got to the humor in the original run. Perhaps most bafflingly, though, Dexter's self conscious 4th wall style voice overs - which used to be a source of darkly comic musings or observations - was very infrequent in New Blood. In fact whenever he did provide voice over narrations, it felt more like plot exposition, and was rarely funny or clever. The whole show was a miss for me, but I was somewhat enjoying it and would have ranked it as middle tier Dexter until that awful finale, which really brought it down in my book. I don't plan to ever watch any of it ever again. They dropped the ball big time.

I enjoyed the season, it felt very cinematic, the camera setups and cuts felt modern and high quality. The original Dexter kinda comes from a time where movies where way bigger than show. Another thing that I enjoyed was that I had no clue how the season was going to end. There were countless ways it could have gone. The season kept me on my toes and in a way, making theories is often more satisfying then the actual ending. Your suggestions about Dexter having a moment of clarity and to change his plan about leaving with Harrison really appeal to me.

I knew dexter had to die. I wanted them to shock us with harrison being the puppet master in the end. Harrison read the letter, knew dexter was a killer, he saw dexter kill matt, he attacked his peer so dexter would get closer and open up to trust him, then he gets him in his own kill room. Dexter looks around, photos of everyone he has killed, including deb and harrisons mom. And then harrison kills his dad in his own style with some of his fathers style, too. Tied up in plastic but slits him with the switch blade. Then dexter has the realization that he is a monster like those he killed , he is now on the table and he created a monster in his son. Except his son is smarter and better at the game. That would've been the wicked dark ending I would have liked. Then harrison would make his body disappear like his dad taught him and he'd set dexter up for all the crimes. Then he'd live happily in iron lake. A wolf in sheeps clothing. Smiling with his girlfriend in sheriff bishop's house. 👍that's an ending I'd be into. Because dexter was always an a hole to EVERYONE he so called loved. He was selfish the entire way. He had to be stopped. And it had to be by the hands of his son.

@@AKA480. and that lies the problem. No writer has cracked a proper send off for the character including his own creator. While the ambiguity is a bit better, it’s still not satisfying. Satisfaction would be him own up to crimes and taking the punishment, but they always a find a way for him to escape that whether it be through an explosion on a boat, him changing his name and life from the serial killer infested Miami, or being killed by his own son. The thing is: I don't actually have any problem with the direction the show went. It was just rushed. Clyde Phillips worked best with 13 episodes. By using 10 episodes he lost some things in the way and rushed the finale. Better ending than the last one, still not a good one. Once again: Dexter is only 4 seasons long.

Dexter's acceptance of how inevitable his dark passenger is and how he had already surrendered to it are at the center in the finale. I do not think him killing Logan is out of character, Dexter was cornered and had already managed to get Angela away. He would not just stay to face trial. His dark passenger, his urges to feed it by hurting others are what moved him. He gave Logan the option, but he was determined to get away, all for the sake to continue doing what he did; so when Logan didn't comply, he just had to. I mean, yeah, killing him was excessive; knocking him out was probably better as he did not fit the code. But we've seen Dexter change and evolve the code since the original series. With innocent people? No. But he's never been this cornered before. And this was within what we know he can do, remember how he held Doakes by the neck while stretching his arm? And Doakes was a huge muscular guy. I don't get why you say this is not believable for his character. He's always wished to share his real self with somebody. Remember Miguel Prado? And only after realizing that his son also had a dark passenger and the urges that come with it, he wished to pass on the code. His desire to show himself and not lie all the time are what blinded him near the end. He wanted this so bad, to connect with someone on the most intimate way he knew, not hiding his deepest darkest secrets. But Harrison nailed it, his passenger has been the driver. Harrison is more human, and he seems that what Dexter wants is just to hurt others for his own satisfaction, the code is just the excuse. Having Harrison kill him was just perfect. Dexter said it in his monologues, he took the role of a protector over Harrison, but not because of love. I don't think Dexter could feel love at all, but rather a toxic possessive jealousy. "He's mine, a part of me, and I will not allow anyone to even touch him" is what I think he felt. That is not love by any account. And it was just amplified by the fact that he thought Harrison had the same passenger as him. Finally a real connection. So he would not turn himself up, he would not stop, he would continue to be driven by his urges to kill; that's why we get Harrison be the human side Dexter lost long ago. At the end, I can see Dexter happy. I see no regret, he stopped feeling emotions after all. He dies by Harrison's hand because he's the only one he would not hurt. Not because he loved him, but because he was his. I believe this is perfect because there was never a redemption arc. Dexter was never about him finding his humanity, but rather how he struggled with it. It was always about him coming to terms with his own darkness. He never regretted anything he did after all, that's why I think a "redemption" would have been way out of character for him and I loved how this ended. Damn, I can't believe I wrote this much.

I think we all needed some fresh air with this new season, a new perspective, Dexter being presented to us as a monster on a new way on whole new level and then being brought to justice,.. right? But, what we got instead? Dexter admitting AGAIN that he is dangerous for those he loves and is ready to punish himself for it AGAIN. We saw this exact thing before. This was the conclusion of the original ending. Dexter feeling bad about himself for indirectly destroying his loves ones with his actions. This is no fresh air, this is not a new perspective, this is a bad old chestnut.

I think the writers intended the ending to show the internal changes Dexter went through during his time in hiding; he's older, out of practice, and haunted by the memory of all the people he either let down or got killed because of the code. This season showed that his code was a twisted version he was holding on to in order to keep himself alive (first rule) despite him knowing how the line between him and the dark passenger no longer existed. When we find him, the only thing keeping him in check was his own guilt. Harrison, who he refers to as his phantom limb, arrives and things go off the rails when he's around a living person from his past that actually means something to him. Then we see how his guilt slowly disappears as his superego emerges, that of Dexter the dark crusader, and he exposes Harrison to the code and reverts to using it as his twisted justification. Fast forward to the last few minutes of the last episode and he has his back against the wall, his past is coming to destroy him, and all he cares about is getting back to his son, knowing full well that he managed to convince him that his psychopathic tendencies and justifications were heroic. Cue the ending. Dexter does what he needs to just to ensure his survival, regardless of who gets in the way (first rule is the justification again) and literally burns everything he worked for in that town because he doesn't care, it means nothing to him; feeding the dark passenger and his urges are all that have ever truly mattered to him. Then we reach the final confrontation with Harrison, the one he thought would be a joyful reunion, and reality strikes. Harrison sees his father for who he is, sees the code as a justification, directly calls out the dark passenger as the driver, and forces Dexter to finally confront the truth of his actions thus far; nothing Dexter did was ever selfless or for the greater good in the end, it was all done as an excuse to feed his murderous urges while keeping himself hidden/safe. Harrison shooting Dexter is poetic precisely because of the name of the episode "the sins of the father", which we know are passed down to the son. This is a moment of redemption for Dexter because there is no spectacle, no media frenzy, no glory, just him accepting that he was always the dark driver and allowing, keyword here, Harrison to kill him. In the end, he chose whatever feelings he had towards Harrison triumph over his self-preserving nature, self-serving justifications, and self-absorbed world view. He didn't just break the first rule of the code, he incinerated it by allowing Harrison to kill him and, in turn, showed him the only real outcome those urges ever amount to, despite the pretty attire he dressed them up in. I think it felt disappointing because we wanted fanfare and some cinematic ending for Dexter, but we got something closer to one of the harshest truths of life: Death cares not for aspirations, acts of glory, legacies, or loved ones. It comes for us all like a bitter winter and reduces us all to the realm of memory, where we live on in the minds of those who loved us for an even briefer period before finally being erased.

Rewrite: after knocking out logan and escaping the jail, angel confronts dexter out in the woods before dexter can get to harrison. They have a long discussion and dexter explains why he does what he does. Angel in an emotional state understands dexters motivations but still believes he has to do the right thing for the memory of those that died. Dexter flees, gets to harrison, but is then surrounded by police. Staying true to the code in a panic dexter takes angela hostage with a knife as he'd do anything to not be caught. Harrison tells him to let her go and reminds dexter the point of the code was to not let the dark passenger take control. Dexter sees audrey crying for her mother and drops the knife and lets angel take him away. The final scene is in florida with dexter in the electric chair with harrison and angel on the other side of the glass watching, just as harry showed dexter the electric chair when he was a teen. Harrison can't watch so he runs off, showing that he has no desire to see his father die and his dark passenger is ultimately at peace. Dexter smiles as he knows he's done the right thing, poetic justice. End

If they made more than one seasons.. I would have loved one season would be for dexter to be booked in prison waiting for his day in court or being convicted but it eventually being overturned. He could have gathered information about people and pass it along to Harrison to help Harrison’s dark passager. Dexter manipulative nature could make this an amazing season. He could even still kill and not be so neat about it and still not get caught. That could slowly change dexter character from being in isolation and the prison environment turning into an animal that needs to be put down. Slowly but surely Dexter starts to lose grips with the humanity the original series started. Kinda like Walter White. He got to a point where I fully accepted he needed to be killed. He did turn into an animal and Jesse turned from lost, to broken, to strength. They should write along those lines with dexter and Harrison. But have a legit reason why dexter is turning into a animal but do it slowly.. like they built his humanity

I believe they should have kept with the show's tradition of 12 episodes and given us a better ending. I really do think that Dextor had to die, and I think that flashback was more of, even though he did not physically kill them, that he found that he met the standards of the code. If that is not what that was meant to signify, then it should have been. I also think after having a pretty dramatic conversation, and maybe still escaping but just knocking out the officer that it should have been Bautista that killed Dextor, the man that for eight seasons loved and trusted him, and that this kill would be witnessed by Harrison which could have sent us to a better spin-off with him. The best part of the whole show for me is how they portrayed Debra's ghost it was fantastic and it was exactly what I think you would expect from her angered Spirit.

I thought they were going to go the addict angle you mentioned at first. I wanted it to at least (since I myself have been sober just over 7 years). After episode 2, with him driving over the blood in the snow in the ATV I thought it was either bad writing, or they were setting him up to go down by being so arrogant and sloppy. Even after 10 years, shit was so obvious a '3 year old' could pick up on it.. What I wish they had done was connect the final 3 or so episodes into 1 long narrative instead of rushing at the end. Reading the synopsis of episode 8 had me feeling Dexter was going to give his life up to save Harrison from Caldwell. Instead he saves him quickly and conveniently, then had a single episode of Harrison taking it all in.. Instead of figuring out the ending and working backwards, they should have had an idea for an ending, then start at the beginning.. I dunno, I could go on. I did prefer this ending than S8, but that's a low bar to clear. It was a season you were waiting to explode, and it never did until the rushed final episode.

It's important to note when comparing this season and/or ending with season 8, that season 8 did back to back seasons for the first time and they have since admitted that they were running way behind and simply ran out of time. Also the network wouldn't let the writers end it the way they wanted too. This time around they've had several years to contemplate the story as well as the ending for this season and the showrunner didn't have the restrictions that the previous showrunner/writers had, so there's absolutely no excuse for this season or the ending. The season had so many forced narratives, plotholes, far fetched moments, etc (more than all of the previous 8 seasons combined), it boggles my mind.

Simply put, the growth, the light bulb moment Dexter did have that everyone is saying he did NOT have is right there. It's not fake, it's not reverting, he realized, Harrison made him realize in that moment, that HE was the problem, HE will always kill, he will always take anyone down to get away because that's rule number one. The moment that proved to me this wasn't fake growth, was Dexter telling Harrison to take off the safety on his rifle. Otherwise if Dexter hadn't realizes Harrison was right he tackles him, fucks off, learns nothing, and we have Season 1 Ep.1 Dexter all over again. But no, Trinity came for Rita because of him, Harrison is messed up because of him, it's all him, and he knew he had to do, what he did. And at the cell, Dex clearly told him, I don't wanna hurt you, the guy pulled a gun on a dude with his arms around his neck. If there's any unrealistic out of character moments in the show, it's that one, you don't play hero and pull a gun on a suspected serial killer who has his arms around your neck and has you you 100%by the balls. Dexter knew Batista coming and combining forces with that witch Angela was going to be his downfall, that was it, there was going to be a case against him and he would of been caught. HE WAS IN A JAIL CELL!!!! THERE WAS A MUG SHOT! OF DEXTER MORGAN UNDER SUSPICION OF BEING THE BAY HARBOR BUTCHER. People need to stop concentrating so hard on what they wanted and didn't get focus and pay attention to what we DID get, these circumstances were extreme and uncharted territory for Dexter, not only that, his son was there waiting for him. This was different, amd I implore everyone to just try and appreciate what we did get

How it should’ve ended.* after Batista sees the email from Angela. Batista catches the next flight out arrives to a sleeping Dexter in his cell as it is the following morning. Dexter is startled as Batista gives an emotional monologue about looking out for him believing in him even grieving him and yet it was him who brought harm to all those people he loved. Might even get Dexter to shed a tear in an emotional moment. They cuff him up to exit cell as Batista has extradition orders for Miami as they turn the corner in the hallway of the precinct it’s a smooth transition to walking into Miami Metro as the doors open any former still living Miami metro characters are there for his perp walk. As he is placed in his cell maybe a couple fan service interactions followed by Dexter laying down on a bench in the cell. Camera pans out to him now strapped on a table paying for the crimes he has committed. Commence flash back sequence with one final look into the glass window of the viewing room and on the other side he sees Cody, Astor and Harrison right before his last breath. And side note you could have had Astor as the podcaster given her upbringing and everything happening to her mom she would have an itch for true crime investigating. And that fan service moment where Jim would bring lunch to the station and she sitting with Angela after offering to help with the missing persons case looks up as Angela introduces and they both look shocked but play it cool to have conversation for later. This would be fan service on another level. She is the catalyst that brings Harrison to IronLake because over the years they never lost touch and she knows how much Harrison wanted to meet his dad. Cody would come out towards end of season begrudgingly for his own closure as Dexter played a pivotal part in each of their lives. With Astor being Dexter’s inside person he could have helped pushed Angela in the right and wrong direction with the case. Bringing closure to the missing person cases but keeping Kurt Caldwell to himself. Then wrap it up as I wrote above 12 episode season to let the plot build and end naturally.

I figured it out, I freaking hated the finale. On various FB pages im shocked to see some love it. Im betting these people are not true Dexter fans. Listening to your review it sounds poetic from a outsider looking in.

Youre absolutely right. Most people who like the ending are fem boys and the feminazi type women.

Pariah- Makes sense. Those people are emotional basket cases and Harrison was an emotional basket case. Of course they would like Harrison to kill the stoic Dexter. They don't like people who have their emotions under control.

The reason it seemed out of character for Dexter to kill Logan was because before this season, Dexter never felt /understood real love. But the love of his son drove him to do literally anything to be with him again. But then when he found out his son was not the "same" as him, he started to become the same old Dexter again and decided this is not about anyone but Dexter and tried to save himself by running away sans Harrison. But Harrison would not let that happen. And rather than face trials that would ultimately lead to the electric chair, he decided to feed his son's thirst to be the hero. I loved the ending and while it was out of character for the Dexter we KNEW, it was NOT out of character for the Dexter he is now, after 10 years of not killing, Harrison showing up in his life, Matt Caldwell, etc.. Dexter had become a loose canon, not the methodical serial killer he once was. The only thing that I hated was the Bautista fiasco. You can't tease that and then just drop it. That was ridiculous. We needed a 13 episode run for this season, as we could have built that ending up a lot better had Harrison had more time to realize what a true monster Dexter had become.

I loved the end, but I agree with most people on a couple things, the ketamine/m99 mix up it’s pretty ridiculous and I can’t defend that. Angel and Dexter not having a reunion was disappointing for sure, but other than that I don’t agree with anybody. Yeah Angela figured everything out pretty quick and maybe even in a rushed manner, but when they announced one final season of this show, this is the story I was hoping for! Someone figuring out who he is and exposing him for all his secrets, that’s what I thought everyone’s always wanted to see so I was confused when people started complaining that she was figuring all of it out. Idk maybe I’m not as picky as most people. But for the finale I loved it personally, there’s so much emotional material beneath all the layers of what’s given throughout the episode. Very deep and emotional. I love that Dexter finally feels love and says he’s proud of Harrison after he shot him, and then hearing the last lines of is letter be “Just let me die, so my son can live.” He’s finally letting himself die knowing it’s what’s best for Harrison. Dexter is no better than anyone on his table, he’s ruined the lives of so many innocent people and has gotten some killed through his actions. I loved that after he breaks the code for the very first time and kills Logan, it ends up being his final kill, he crossed the line and it’s the end of the road. Dexter was a selfish person only caring about his own wants and needs and deserved the ending he got. Harrison now has to leave the people he knows and cares about without ever being able to explain why he fled, just like Harrison’s didn’t know why dexter abandoned him. So many poetic themes here. In the first episode, dexter is chasing around the the white buck while also struggling to maintain his “routine” the whole episode. The white buck represented the good he’s capable of and he’s chasing it the whole episode, right when he thinks he has it, it dies, stating that dexter will never achieve that good in him because of his own selfish urges and can only relate to this buck because he is an animal, just like it. And after he snaps and let’s his dark passenger take over, he becomes that animal, and ultimately ends up like that buck by the end of the season…. Put down. Idk that’s just my interpretation and I could tell the creators really cared and were passionate about the story they were trying to tell. A story about fathers and sons and ultimately addiction. I think people didn’t think Dexter should die because they got attached to his character but he isn’t a good person and deserves to either die or get caught. Him killing Logan is him going to his final extremes to not get caught, I think people mistake Dexter with someone like Batman who has a moral code for doing what he does but that’s not true, dexter is just a psychopath who uses his code to be able to maintain a normal life and he also uses it to justify his urges, making it sound like he’s doing good but really he’s just a sick fuck with an addiction to kill. But in the end I don’t think it’s right to trash something when they clearly worked very hard on it. Now something like Game of thrones where they completely trash everything good about the show and they just ended it to be finally done with it, that’s worth trashing because the creators simply didn’t care enough to bother with a satisfying ending, but with Dexter, even if you don’t like it, you can’t say the writers didn’t care about bringing this show back and making it feel like the same character, even the first 9 episodes were very good even if you dislike the finale, at least in my opinion. Michael C Hall didn’t miss a beat from the old show and I for one was happy to see him return and glad I could get some closure with the character almost a decade later. They didn’t have to do this show but they made it anyways and it was better than season 5 through 8 so I can live with that.

I don’t mind dexter dying, in fact I think it’s the right way to end it too. But I very much disliked the entire season because of its boring setting and introduction of boring new characters. We’ve been wanting a massive manhunt on dexter since the early seasons but this setting prevented that. Unlike others, I don’t mind dexter killing an innocent because I understand his character isn’t morally good, and he’s killed innocents before both directly and indirectly (luddy, kill after ritas death, laguerta(indirect)), however at this point it wasn’t necessary as it was just stupid to kill him because it placed him in more trouble than he was beforehand. Dexter might not be good, but he is smart. All the evidence Angela had on him wouldn’t have held up in court and he should’ve understood that, killing a cop would put him in serious legal trouble. Also, I hated Harrison killing him, he’s an ungrateful shit of a son with the personality of a wet fart. He had a premeditated plan to frame and nearly murder another boy his age but he thinks he’s better than Dexter? Also how does ‘dexter dying allow Harrison to live? I would imagine killing your own father has far graver consequences mentally than anything else. Also for Dexter to be caught by a crappy police department in the middle of nowhere with 3 useless cops is ridiculous especially when not even the best serial killer hunter FBI agent could catch him back in Miami. Dexter should’ve been taken down by his own police department back in Miami.

I didn't mind the finale too much. I was mad about Logan, but I definitely think they needed to have Angel see Dexter confront Dexter there's no way they set that up and just forgot??? Definitely needed him to see him face it more than just that quick flash back

I think we needed atleast 1 or 2 more episodes to fully wrap up the finale. So much potential if there was more episodes after episode 9, or if episode 9 was an earlier episode. I think they ran out of time because we needed more scenes that he gets what he deserves, and Harrison can live slate-free bc he wasn't directly involved with his father's actions. He could have given Harrison a better life if he was more responsible with his action and his code. With that, we could have gotten scenes with other old show characters and new characters where they all figure it out and the fallout of it. Oh well, atleast, we have breaking bad and el camino for good endings in shows.
