Is this correct? Directions say nothing about attaching "pro-form invoices". Directions: Important Do not seal your shipment as the courier must inspect the contents. Affix one copy of the label securely to each package and give the other to the courier, along with any other shipping documents. You or a representative must be present when the courier arrives. Shipments cannot be left outside or in "safe" places for the courier to pickup. Ensure your packages are packed correctly to avoid damage or delays. Follow DHL's Packaging Advice You may also drop off your shipment at a DHL Service Point. Find a Location

I only received one label - the triple barcode label. Does it matter if I don’t have the one barcode label as they didn’t email that to me

That is possibly because you have also done the paperless option when you booked it. If you did then all you need is the 3 barcode airwaybill attached to the box and you are good to go. Check the airwaybill and if it says like Shannon said, C-PLT in the thick black line above the 3 barcodes then you have done the paperless option.

You will notice in the video Nick has provided, that on his airwaybill it says C-IMP in the thick black line, this means he hasn’t done the paperless option for that shipment and needs to have all the relevant paperwork printed out.

This is nearly correct. Always attach your airway bill (3 barcode copy) to the box with 2 copies of your invoice as stated in the video. However, the Drivers copy (single barcode copy) must also be accompanied with a copy of the invoice. So ideally you would need to print 3 copies of the invoice. If you are shipping documents only, then no invoice is required at all, only the airway bill that is attached to you package and the drivers copy (the single barcode copy). Alternatively, you do a digital booking which means you will only need to print the airway bill (3 barcode copy) and attach it to your shipment, no other copies are required at all because they have been digitally uploaded to DHL.

Actually it’s totally correct as this video was made for the benefit of my clients for when they are returning goods to me from their home address in another country (EU, USA, Asia etc) I organise the collection using my DHL account. All my client has to do is what’s in the video. Simple! 😊

@@splitneyboria Hi Nick, Definitely not wrong so to speak, but if it’s the same system globally which I would assume it is, then what’s likely happening is the drivers that are collecting these return items to ship back to you are having to remove one of the invoices from the package to keep with their copy (the single barcode copy) which DHL retain on file incase an invoice is accidentally removed or torn off of a package. In the case of a package arriving in another country that has lost its invoice, customs won’t clear it so it makes sense that DHL retain a copy at the location where it was collected from incase this happens. I’m a driver for DHL ( 8 years in Australia) and we are told that 3 copies are preferable, 2 left with the package and one for the driver. 2 invoice would suffice but as I said, the driver is likely having to remove 1 of them from your packages to hand back with the drivers single barcode copy. Think it’s great you did this video to help those customers out because on so many occasions, customers are oblivious as to what they need to have printed before a shipment can be collected. Just learned the single barcode label and invoice are not needed if the 3 barcode label contains C-PLT (PLT = paperless trade). The driver just scanned the 3 barcode label and told me he doesn’t need any paper documents from me.

All international shipments that are items must be accompanied with copies of a commercial invoice, either in paper form which you attach to your shipment or digitally if you have chosen this option. So if you haven’t used the paperless (C-PLT) option then you must attach 2 copies (preferably) to your shipment and retain one copy for the driver along with his single barcode copy. Only time you won’t need an invoice is when you ship documents internationally, no invoice is required when shipping Documents. Also no commercial invoices are required when shipping domestically within a country, that means items can be shipped without the need of an invoice of any kind. I would assume that’s the same for all countries (I’m in Australia) but I do apologize if it’s different in your country. But as far as I know, domestic shipments of any kind do not require commercial invoices. Hope this is helpful.

@@russianguy2443 If you purchased clothing and it was sent to you then you will only need to worry about the invoice if you decide to send the clothing back. The paperwork you have may be the return labels for the return journey. Check the one with the 3 barcodes and if it has (PLT) in the thick black line then this means it’s a paperless transfer and no invoice will be required because it has already been digitally uploaded to DHL.
