A pack of Dholes (Cuon alpinus) showed up at a pond in Kaeng Krachan national park, Thailand. They had killed a Sambar deer there earlier, but virtually only bones were left, but nevertheless they hang around the spot for a while, allowing us to get some footage. Whilst set up in a blind on the water's edge, a Common Kingfisher perched at less than 1.5m in front of the lens allowing for some very close up footage. And a Black-capped Kingfisher and some other birdlife showed up too.
The larger national parks/ wildlife sanctuaries in Thailand still have populations of these Asian Wild Dogs. From our experience, Kaeng Krachan is not the easiest place to see this species, but nonetheless we have had a handful of sightings over the past couple years.
