Jula Keleh Manso (Merchant Warrior King) of Saaba Bolokeleh Singhateh came from Lambidou in Manding. His paternal grandparent is called Lambidou Soma Niakate who was also a warrior king and final settler of Lambidou after defeating the fula settlers, who were the first original settlers of Lambidou. The fula settlers last names were Sowe and Barry. Bolokeleh left Manding with his generals, warriors, slaves, leather smiths, blacksmiths mainly of the Suso clan and the elder Malick Suso, oral historians/jalis of the kouyate clan, finnas, fortune tellers along with his entourage which included the following last names, Jamba, Singhateh, Sisoho, Suso, Dambelleh lu, Makalo lu including Tamba Makalo, Saho lu, Kouyate lu, Danso lu, Mballow lu and many more. His nephew Qumengta (konkonou) and Frankita also accompanied him. However, Frankita who founded Dia Medina in present day Badibou Dia, later died in his settlement of Dia Medina. After his death, his family, spouse and Fakita BAA later moved to Saaba and Bolokeleh gave them a place to settle. Fakita BAA settled in Fakita Kunda and his the first settler in that compound. They moved to Saaba 7 years after the founding of Saaba by Bolokeleh Singhateh.
Bolokeleh Singhateh and his entourage left Lambidou in 1230 CE. He first settled in Bambuk with the Darboe kunda jula lu whom he met there. He later met the great wolio and saint Mbemba Alhagie Suwareh in Bambuk whom he gave 7 slaves to as a gift. Today that place is called Jahaba or the great Jaha. They trace their spiritual ancestry to the sahabas of the Prophet (SAWS) who came to spread the message of Islam and inter marry with the people of the north. Shiekh Al-Hajj Salim Suwareh also called Jaha lia, is the ancestor of the Suwareh's in Jahaba, Gambia, senegal, Mauritania and Mali. He gave Bolokeleh Singhateh his blessings, prayed for him and gave him the direction and description of his final settlement and his dragon (Ninkinanko). Bolokeleh founded Saaba along with the (Ninkinanko) dragon who preceded him there in the year 1258 CE and between the year 1258 CE and 1265 CE he and his entourage, generals, warriors, jalis, finnas, slaves, karang ke lu blacksmiths, leather smiths and marabouts all of them moved and settled in Saaba. He named it after the Ninkinanko (SAABA) as that was the Mandiyaakan dialect and name used in Manding....Prior to leaving for the voyage, the great marabout and saint told him to name his settlement after the Ninkinanko (SAABA) once he reach the place as directed by the saint. He also told him his settlement will last till time immemorial. This is how the name SAABA came about. In those days there was no boundaries or country like Gambia, senegal or mali or Guineaa..... It was the emergence and beginning of manding empire with the beginning of the rise of Sundiata keita. The Manding King whose reign started in 1235 CE. This was centuries before the scramble for Africa began. The search for the settlement and founding of Saaba by Bolokeleh Singhateh took some time as there was wilderness and large forest land during those times, the Ninkinanko (Saaba) used to appear to him throughout his voyage with his entourage but only him used to see the Ninkinanko (dragon) up to the time he reached the place. The place was a vast wilderness all around and the tree he found the Saaba, was surrounded by a big pond. After the clearing and cutting of trees which took some time, he finally settled down with all members of this family and the entire entourage except Frankita who at the time founded and settled in Dia Medina present day Badibou Dia. Hunting, Farming and Agriculture was heavily practiced in those days. Agriculture in those days was supported by slave labor from Saaba to Bambuk to Manding. Saaba at the time became a Sanctuary for many people and clans running from prosecution. It also enjoyed independence and freedom from other enemy invaders because of its superior war tactics and bravery and experience of its battle tested hero generals, and warriors. According to oral traditions and historical records, Bolokeleh had given more than 100 slaves as gifts to jalis and people whom he shared interest with or loved, and those revered saints and marabouts. With all these he still had many slaves who lived with him and served him and his family. He was a brave and generous merchant warrior king (Jula keleh manso). According to Manding written and oral history records, he gave his last name (SINGHATEH) to his slaves in order to provide protection and safety to them. This was a practice that dates back to his ancestor lambidou Soma Niakate. Saaba settlement extended all the way to Njayen and Ntoro in present day senegal. Bolokeleh gave out all those settlements including Gunjur, Bani, Kinteh Kunda, Kerewan and more recently Suwareh kunda. Except Jammeh Kunda which is the place he and his entourage used to live before finishing the clearing of the land settlement in Saaba. They used......
