There's something about this song; it seems to embody all that was good about Chicago. Great rhythm section playing, great lead vocals and lyrics, killer guitar soloing, terrific harmony vocals, and (oh, yes by the way) great horn arrangement brilliantly executed. Not bad,

I've seen them live countless times since the late 80's. Never with Terry or Peter. But, I wish to hell I could've. Terry was by far one of the top 5 guitarists EVER. And Peter is one of the best, yet underrated bassists ever.

This just a flat out, era defining jam! With particular emphasis on Part 2, where the brass and guitars exchange powerful attacks. And at maybe the zenith of album oriented rock radio’s indulgence years-they let the musicians flex heir muscles.Add that to a powerful background of chanting rhythms of “We can make it happen. We can change the world now...”, and It’s Chicago’s at their absolute peak. And the whole lineup is here. This band, at this particular time was not just its best, but as good as any other top bands at their zeniths. And though at this point, they were California transplants, their music still had a Chicago flavor to it that had us in Chicagoland beaming with pride. An extremely underrated rock classic.

To set the record straight: 1. Kath didn't leave the band, he died in 1978 of an unintentional gunshot wound. 2. Chicago has so much material that they don't cover anything. "I'm a Man" (Steve Winwood) would be an exception if you're lucky enough to hear it at a concert. 3. The band has had many great songwriters. Kath, Pankow, Lamb and Ceterea were the most prolific early on with all the others contributing. 4. To date they've had 33 albums of which I would say 4-5 are "best of" albums.

Agree with all comments on Terry's gift. How he (and Danny) never seem to appear in the top rankings of best guitarists and drummers of all time by the multitude of magazines who post their polls amazes me. The polls are all beauty contests. Terry and Danny were both far ahead of their respective competitors in both range, physical and natural talent. Peter was no slouch on bass on either.

As you can see there is a wide range of talent within Peter, he can rock out and sing his ballads. So his preference is the latter, it doesn’t diminish his value or the mark he has left in music history. His unmistakeable voice will live on forever never being duplicated. He’s also a very fine bass player.
