Hi Nurse Lindsey. I heard about being a Dialysis Tech and did some research and came across your channel. I honestly didn't know much about working in dialysis. I am returning back to school to become an LPN but wondering if I should become a PCT and work at a dialysis clinic while I go to school for LPN. I have always liked the idea of working in home health or hospice care. I cared for my late father at home hospice when he was end-stage cancer and really admired the nurses who took over in his last few weeks. That experience convinced me that I needed to go back to school to become a nurse. Working in dialysis seems like such a rewarding experience. I can see how it affected you when your patient had to go to hospice. You form a bond while caring for your patients on a regular basis, how could it not affect you? Question...can an LPN work at a dialysis facility or only RNs?

I'm a new graduate and I have an interview for my local dialysis center and I'm curious if me having an issue where I have frequent urination would this be a problem for this job. I pee about 3 times as much as the normal person so I would need a pee break every 2 hours or so to urinate. Would that be to frequent for this job? It wasn't really an issue in the hospital I could always pop in the bathroom quickly between patients.

New grads do great in dialysis. I’d suggest make a list of what you want in your nursing job and find one that fits more pros than cons. There are so many jobs out there, it can be hard to choose!

@@dialysisnurselindsey thanks for your I reply really appreciate it. I’m on a med surg unit now; however I don’t see myself there for the long term.
