Hearing Dianne Reeves live is like riding a wave of pure joy and pleasure. After her concert, you feel as though all the atoms of the entire universe have aligned themselves in perfect harmony, and you have joined a cosmic vibration of love. She is the most wonderful performer, the most amazing artist you can see and enjoy.

What a performance! I mean, in the best possible way - superb arrangement/re-harmonisation, with Dianne's awesome, powerful voice accompanied by exceptional musicians. The original song is great, of course, but this has to be THE definitive version. Truly inspirational, thanks so much, guys.

Powerful arrangement and singing. Sung by a lady who happens to be the cream of all singers, the piano playing (including the soloing) and rhythmic approach to the arrangement put this as high art. This is the bench mark for vocal improvisation. Unforgetable and wonderful.

+Dick Roche...I could not agree with you more about Dianne's live performances. I've seen her in concert many times over the years as well and she never disappoints!! My favorite CD by her is "Art & Survival" ...she is vocally astonishing track for track: "One More Time", " Freedom Dance", "Silent Tears and Roses" and don't get me started on her brilliant interpretation of "Body & Soul" (sighs)

I totally agree with you - I had the pleasure of seeing her at Yoshi's in Oakland about 10 years ago and there is no question she is my favorite "living' Jazz Singer (Carmen McRae is my all-time favorite) - "KEEP ENJOYING THE SOUNDS OF JAZZ" (especially Dianne Reeves)

+Dick Roche Thanks for your comment! Carmen is another great song stylist indeed. I love her versions of "How Long Has This Been Going On?" & "Just A Little Lovin' " not too mention her tribute album to Sarah...May the music never end!!!

Thanks for your return comment - my favorite Dianne Reeves album/CD is IN THE MOMENT recorded live before a studio audience - I think her live recordings (and also having seen her in person) are better than her studio recordings because her beautiful personality comes out so much better musically through her live performances (but I'm sure we could say that for most performers) - I totally agree with your comment "May the music never end!" - Jazz Music hasn't for me since I heard John Coltrane's solo on ALL BLUES in 1959 when Miles Davis classic KIND OF BLUES was released - Coltrane has been my musical hero ever since and I was fortunate enough to see him twice in the early to mid 60's in L.A. - 'KEEP ENJOYING THE SOUNDS OF JAZZ"

Dori used the Amazon River refrain on an early version of Obsession. I wonder if that was how he originally intended to use it. Not sure what came first.
