Thanks for another great video! I wanted to comment on the random tile setup you guys were talking about at the end of the video and errors that were made when discussing drawing those tiles and the "Add" instruction on the tiles, in case anyone like me watches this later. According the rules, you always play with the "Master tray": the die faces you played with in this game, aside from the 5 tiles under the tray and their corresponding faces. Then you decide on the 5 extra tiles to play with, either the recommended setups from the reference sheet or by drawing 5 random tiles. Some of those tiles are "lines", and should be added next to the master tray with their die faces lined up with the master tray for organization. These are in addition to the normal faces you always have, so if you draw a new line of 3 green tiles, there would be 6 green faces available in this game. If a tile says "Add X", then after you draw those 5 random tiles, if X isn't already one of those 5 tiles, you'd look through the bag for X and add it as a 6th tile.

I remember playing Dice Forge and using a plastic orange peeler to loosen the pieces. It now resides in the box. Nice to see this game include a tool.

The plastic dice faces in DF are made so that you can use them as a lever to remove other dice faces. No extra tool is needed, they are already included in the game.

I agree with Aaron, I wish more games would integrate die crafting. Imagine your standard worker placement, resource generating game if it utilized dice upgrades like this game...adding another dimension to those types of games would be awesome. The game doesn't need to center around die crafting (like this game, Dice Forge or Rattlebones); it would be nice just to use die crafting as a mechanic in games that aren't all about die crafting.

This is most unusual. Even though you guys performed your usual magic in showing this game at its best, I just don't like it. Why is this? It has dice rolling (which I just love), and yes, I might play it if I ever got the chance, but I would probably purchase a nice set of Snakes & Ladders before this one. And then Lincoln said it was an expensive game. Now, I do appreciate there's a lot of plastic in there, but in the UK, this game is only a sneeze short of one hundred pounds! ! ! There is no way that game is worth even close to that, IMHO, and of course, people who disagree with me, your opinion is ever bit as valid as mine, but nope, for once I will definitely say I won't ever buy a game I've seen played on a GameNight! YT video. But thanks to the gang for posting this, it was still a great video and I did enjoy watching.

This game would be a lot better if it was just a digital/mobile game. It's a good game, though I agree with the other commenters that no one taking the single "take that" die face really hampered this playthrough, but popping the faces on and off and figuring the cost on upgrading stuff would be so much easier in digital. The video was as enjoyable as all of them are plus the thumbnail was epic.

I know you guys are don't like to do the 'take that' effects, but when you see other players trading off their grain producing sides or getting rid of victory point sides for free upgrade sides, you should be taking that face that hits other players, just to force them to either take defense sides or more grain production sides...allowing people to jack up their upgrade die faces giving them free upgrades cedes too many points IMO. Once Dave explained that die face, I KNEW none of you would take it (if MIKE were playing, he would have taken it haha)...should have just swapped it out for one of the other die faces you might actually use. I get that there is a suggested set of die faces to use for your first game, but if nobody is going to use a particular die face, we don't get to see how it's used anyway, so might as well use one that's worth investing in.
@msmilder25
2 жыл бұрын
Dave really should have done that...I mean, Dave will NEVER take a "take that" effect if he has a choice because I know he doesn't like them...but here's the thing, Nikki and Aaron were starting to pile up victory points, and though Lincoln only had a single vp tile and already had a few (- vp) tiles, he did have a TON of upgraded die faces, which are VPs in end game. You can't look at the take that die as hurting other players (since it can be defended against) you have to look at it as a means of countering their vp generating engines...if they're going to get a ton of VP tiles, they need to accumulate a lot of (-vp) tiles to offset it. That's just my thinking though as an observer.
@davidarnott4850

@@msmilder25 Actually, I was a little surprised that Aaron didn't take it. Also, you are wrong about me never taking a "take that" effect. I will often to do that... in SUBSEQUENT plays of a game, after I understand it better. But yeah, I will almost never do that the very first time I'm playing something... which is often what these Game Night videos are for me: my first time playing. On a more technical "show biz" note, I will also often pass up certain strategies if I think they will add length to a game. Especially if the game we're shooting is not our first one that day... or if we've had some problems with our equipment... or loud neighbors :) or - and this is worst for me - if I've taught something so incorrectly that it can't be fixed and we have to start all over again (and yes, that still happens every once in a while, sigh). As far as showing off ALL facets of a game, your point is valid. Mostly :) We try to show off the way a game works. To me, that's not the same thing as showing examples of all possible strategies. In fact, I could argue that by NOT using that die face, we're actually enticing people to play the game just to SEE it in action :)

I didn't feel a strong theme connection (which I like feeling) with this game, but the gameplay itself was great, and the playthrough was so clear that I could follow easily and even guess what decisions you all might take (even as dice-rolling is not a favourite mechanism of mine). Excellent video 😊👍🏾👍🏾
