Dickey is a legend....he played before 600,000 people at Watkins Glenn in 1973......one of the best guitar players ever and a true rock music bad ass. It doesn't get any more legit that Mr. Betts.

I am so glad this American legend is still living at just a few months shy of 80. He obviously has been a proud mentor to his son...just wish he had taken better care of himself. An addictive personality is dangerous. Let's hope DB gives one straight interview and plays just a few more of his heart-felt tunes for the fan who have such wonderful memories and love him dearly.

@@StevenCarinci The Man shared the stage with many of the greatest musicians ever. Unfortunately, he's one of the few true Southern Rock Guitar Legends still with us, but I'll gladly give him a 👍 whenever he shares a live performance. Just wish I had gotten a chance to do the same for Duane A., Allen, Steve G., Ed, Huey, Billy, Dave, Steve H., Duane R., Toy, Tommy C. & likely a few more, who are no longer with us today.

Dickey betts…one of the American great guitar players….a legend on his own…his rambling man is a master piece….I truly don’t like country music it is horribly…but dickey betts transcends all that…I pains my heart to see him getting this old….although in a different way he sounds even greater than before…I wish I could see him…

We love you dicky, I am 55 , Sept. 16, 2019. And I literally cut my baby teeth listening. ..as ole Charlie Daniels sang. Richard Betts playing that RED guitar. If I can't remember the rest of the words of CDB'S song, I'll never forget those. I as well as the rest of the world ,have always loved Ramblin Man. Everybody does. If they say they don't. They're just lying. Pray For' Em. But since I was a little boy, I could be feeling down or just so so. And Blue Sky would come on the radio and I immediately was feeling high. That song made my sunny day. Thanks Dickie. p.s. that son of his is the spitting image of him when he was that age. Dickie is one of the greatest ever. He's a little bit country and a little bit rock n roll.

I admire and respect Dickey as much as anybody does. Years ago he got dentures, and the damn things just don't seem to fit. They makes him reluctant to say much on stage, and when he does talk they make him sound drunk, whether he is or not. And they sure don't do anything for his vocals. It's a shame the problem can't be fixed. Dickey deserves better.

This is a great version. ..ESPECIALLY considering that it's a very difficult song to play live, and get it close to the recorded version. I never heard the ABB play it live this good. The extra guitars help replicate the harmony licks that stand out on the record, and The Allmans usually re-arranged it, leaving out the harmony runs.

Troy Winter there was nothing in THIS particular comment that "pisses on" Betts, it just seemed to me like a reflection on the passing of time, and how all of our favorite musicians are dying off. But his other comments are uncalled for...just because the man is no longer in his prime, and his band isn't as good as the legendary band he was once in, doesn't mean he's no good anymore. And if he's still "on shit", then at least he's outlived all those others that got off "the shit" long ago
