This truly must be an outstanding performance. Not a single complaint or critical remark in the comments below. Practically a miracle for organ people.

To Carl Kepner: The organ-tuner *and* his assistant are essential to the performance. Certainly, their role is in the background, but I see nothing wrong in giving them a minute or two's exposure in the odd video.

I know just the very thing. I have to prepare an instrument later this week, it's a 150 mile 6-hour treck. Then there is the cost of getting there, accommodation, food, then the work itself. Organ crews work so hard, often at their own expense, to make these events possible. I've never been to a concert yet where the artist did not give appreciation to the people who make it all possible.

The whole concert is NOT to be missed but for those who love Richard's inventive encore's, his barn burning improv on "Rock Around The Clock" starts at 2:12:25. Enjoy!

I heard his arrangement of Finnian's Rainbow in Pasadena and hearing it again here just sent shivers down my spine. Some enormously under-performed music from a comparatively underappreciated composer. Just awesome, magical stuff!

I have lots of appreciation for them, too. As a piano major in college, I could never seem to translate those skills over to organ. My brain just doesn’t work that way. It’s a whole different beast. Major respect.

Why are you showing somebody tuning the organ..not a very good ad for an organ concert However the concert was wonderful.
@tckerr1

If one is interested in theatre organs all aspects including tuning are interesting to see. I think showing a little behind the scenes leading up to a concert is very appropriate.

Great concert but factually.... the musicals, Hans Christian Anderson (Sam Goldwyn Productions/RKO) and Finian's Rainbow (Warner 7Arts) were NOT MGM and Britain has more than one cinema which boasts a cinema organ played at film screenings, cf Kinema in the Woods, Woodhall Spa (granted a bit more modest than Odeon, Leicester Square!).

There's also the Plaza Stockport, which although being in use as a theatre, was constructed as a Cinema. Blackpool Opera House is also a theatre, but was built with being a cinema in mind and is occasionally still used as one.
