This is a great cut and the film was also great. Actually in the new way we consume media and content, I can see Max creating additional “episodes” that complete his original work and elaborate some aspects of the film. One aspect that I personally missed, for instance, is the impact of different cultures on leadership. As a Brazilian, working and leading different people across the globe, this was a lesson that I’ve learned - despite your vision, your style, your model and communication process, you need to be flexible to different cultures and expectations - at least if you want to create really high performance teams. Great job Max, I’ve just subscribed and I’m looking forward for the next video.

Coming from an athletic background and being a captain of a team, you really do learn a lot about what it takes to be a leader. Taking some of those tips and skills into the art field has been great for me personally.

Hey Max, you decided to upload this video clip without keeping it from us. You could have easily kept it hidden in ur Hard Disks, but you decided to share this side of the story too. Thanks for that. And the last line... "Those quiet guys who go home at night and make good movies, who aren't assholes...we don't tell their story" changed my perspective and balanced out all my queries. On one side there are books like How to Win Friends and Influence People and on the other hand there are books like The 48 Laws of Power. On one side, we are asked to be sensitive towards others and work together and on the other hand we are said that "Be ready to be a Dick to be in power." This clip balanced out a lot of things. Thanks for that.

Not sure why Max cut it, but it looks like it may have been left out for pacing purposes. It adds 2 more minutes to the film and the themes here are more or less covered throughout.

Having watched the short film that recently came up, I feel like this is the main video; It ultimately drives us to the collaborative aspect of directing an artistic project. Obviously, there was a reason to the first part, and I believe its purpose was to convince people to be strong and keep the right direction, and this second part is a way to tell people to still be nice and build up a career. DO YOU (who read this comment) AGREE ? tell me why :)

Although I understand the message, I think that History proved us time and time again that even dicks can make it. It's not the best way of leadership of course, but coupled with talent it would always work better than a nice leader without talent. That's my observations of this fucked up world anyways...

I would have loved to see this scene in the final cut,... you don't want to glorify being an asshole or have being one contingent on respect and being labeled "good" in the industry. Either way, great clip dudesome.

Nice to hear the downside as well, because sometimes we as "nice guys" feel that the only way to get things done is being a dick, but when you see that besides the fact that they have some kind of success there is some pretty bad thing related to it, then you accept your quality as "nice guy" and understand that the downsides of being "nice guy" are not so bad after all. Anyway, the thing is be assertive, sometimes a dick and most of the time nice guy.

This has a different 'feel' to the final cut, which is perhaps why it wasn't in there. The narrative also offers a rather more definitive conclusion than the final cut. Totally agree with the sentiment though. Glad it found it's way off the cutting room floor ;-) Looking forward to more visual essays soon Max.

Being that I just saw "Do you have to be a dick to be a leader" It was pretty fascinating. I love checking out things i don't usually watch on KZitem and this was a treat. The downsides remind me of a Captain I had while serving in the U.S. Navy. Captain Holly Graf was relieved of her command for cruelty, and assault on crew members, and officers. As well as using her position for personal/financial gain. This happened in 2010 and I'm am retired for service. Recently I was on an Air Force base and was talking to an enlisted guy. I mentioned the Captain's actions and he said her name. So Holly Graf's reputation is so bad that even Air force people know about her ten years later.

Max, i know I'm late to the party but if you are reading this comment then I suggest you to read "The Growth Mindset - Prof Carol Dweck." (if you haven't already) She discusses in great details the downfall of being a DICK and why it certainly is not a good course to take (if you are not a natural) during the long run. Looking forward to more such quality content.
