@CashelOConnolly my ex partner was born and bred in Reading so I kinda had a heads up lol. I found Reading to be pleasant. I already knew it's reputation but it us no different to the next town over from me in the central wheatbelt in Western Australia called Northam, just on alot bigger scale... a huge scale 🤣

I'm reminded of the first murder in Agatha Christie's The ABC Murders. That victim was a tobacconist killed in the exact same way. I wonder if she took any inspiration from this case.

The witnesses are contradictory. They don't notice a drunk American stumbling about the street but they remember a man running? I'm amazed they let go the guy who admitted to fleeing the scene.

The crime sounds like the first crime of the "ABC Murders", by Agatha Christie. She usually took inspiration from real crimes for some of the crimes in her novels.

How do we know that the wife didn't do it? Cracked him over the head then calmly took the dog for a walk, only to come home and "discover" him nearly dead behind the counter. Wouldn't be the first time a wife just decided to do away with the old boy.

Wow, that was interesting, Poor Ms Oliver. He may have killed Alfred Oliver so he could not identify him as the perpetrator, but that is usually just someone the victim knows not a movie star. How weird to be held up by a movie star. I had no idea why we (New York) lost the budding film industry to California. I don't care if Edison was smart, he was a putz. Hey Paul and crew. TY💜
