So, I think some of the frustration is about Eugenia not helping in the kitchen (How could it not? She's just standing there), but I can't imagine it isn't also based in the clear ED behavior at play here. The kitchen is where ED behavior is loud and clear. My perspective is colored by having survived an eating disorder myself, and watching these two and their cookie quest is just playing "spot the symptom". Eugenia mentions *she* likes wearing gloves to handle the cookies-- she likely feels disgust at having to handle food, and especially "bad" food. There's disgust, shock, and fear in how she questions how much sugar is in the cookies (asking if she needs to pour the whole cup, etc), how much butter (gasping at a whole pound of butter or whatever it was), and a continual string of offhand, less than positive remarks about the cookies. She drops the cookie ball and her mom asks how it happened, knowing full well it was on purpose. ED folks will often destroy food. Dropping the dough? Feels about right. Making a smaller ball at first? A restrictive person isn't going to go HAM on a cookie ball, yknow? Just a few thoughts that are probably incredibly obvious to everyone who watched the vid.

The gloves were weird and I agree that it was only because she was afraid to touch the food. Maybe she thinks that the cookie dough could enter her body if she touched it. Also Eugenia was really stalling when trying to get the gloves on hoping her mom would finish rolling the cookie dough so she wouldn't have to touch the dough. She also played stupid while rolling the dough hoping her mom would just take over and do it for her... I could be totally wrong though

Unfortunately her mom can’t do anything. I wish people understood anorexia better to not blame the mom so much. Eugenia will only get better in her own terms by going to therapy to change her behavior. If her mom took her to therapy, it would be white noise to Eugenia. She’s stubborn af, we’ve already seen that. Forcing an anorexic to gain lots of weight only ends up traumatizing them more and in turn makes them regress more into the illness. Like what jacklyn did. Eugenia WAS forced to address what she was struggling with, but after that she went back down. Saying everything is fine cause she’s comfortable being anorexic. That’s the unfortunate thing. She’s comfortable.

I think her Dependent Personality Disorder (in my opinion that's what she has) contributes greatly to why she is so deeply stuck in her anorexia and in choosing to stay in the same household that destroyed her sense of competence and self-worth in the first place. It's a vicious cycle and that's why the infantile persona, her isolation, the clinginess and dependence on her mother, and her starvation, have all got worse and worse. It's a negative feedback loop that all started with low self-worth and anxiety, which now prevents her from moving away from the environment causing those problems, instead becoming closer and closer to the codependent mother. She found that getting recognition for being exceptional at something rare - being able to starve yourself long-term - compensated for the feelings of inferiority in other areas of life, and the starvation made her mentally spacey and emotionally numb enough to not feel as anxious as she would otherwise feel due to her Dependent Personality Disorder and the need to keep her Jekyll and Hyde mother in Jekyll mode. Comparing her when starving to when she was briefly at a healthy weight, she was not spacey and dissociated in those few videos, there was much more clarity and focus in her eyes and speech, but also much more anxiety in her eyes. Because starvation can induce a kind of dissociative state.

You are one hundred percent on point with this! 22:07. Eugenia's content is NOT for her audience. It's for her, and a way for her to body check and get validation from others which fuels her illness and she gets to get paid WHILE she engages in a maladaptive coping mechanism and all social media platforms have failed to hold her accountable for her harmful content-- so yes, it's a win win situation from Eugenia. She gets paid for engaging in eating disorder behaviors and spreading harmful messages to minors and tries to discreetly cover it up but we all know what's really going on here.

@compulsiverambler1352

"Harmful content" = seeing an emaciated sick person engaging in the popular hobbies of cosplay and of making a fashion channel online? I grew up seeing emaciated famine, AIDS, wasting disease, cancer and Holocaust victims on TV news and documentaries. Was that toxic and sending harmful messages just because some psychologically suffering people envy those bodies because they for various reasons find symbolic value or imagined higher social respect from how it looks? Or was it fine because they weren't engaging in the hobby of fashion and cosplay? What if one of those people does want to engage in cosplay? I'm genuinely curious because that will help me understand the steps taken to get to your point of view: if an equally emaciated AIDS victim made the same KZitem content as Eugenia, would you say the same thing? If you wouldn't say the same, I'll get into that fascinating can of worms in another reply, but if you would say the same thing regardless of which illness caused a fashion KZitemr to look like that, I'd like to ask the difficult question of how it is not ableist. To justify taking away emaciated people's right to engage in hobbies that involve the public seeing their bodies, like swimming, or cosplay at conventions or KZitem, you'd need to demonstrate that anorexia nervosa is contagious by looking at an emaciated person, which I don't believe. For people whose emaciation is caused by anorexia nervosa, it would be exceptionally dangerous to guilt-trip, shame, or legally force them to stop engaging in their hobbies, because the most common cause of premature death in anorexics is suicide. Taking away their hobbies - even if those hobbies might have become complicating factors in their illness, e.g. ballet, gymnastics, modelling or cosplay videos - leaves them with absolutely no source of comfort, control and self-esteem except the anorexia. At that point, if they can't starve any longer, they will probably suicide out. As I said, that is the biggest killer in AN, it's shockingly rampant because people take the starvation coping mechanism away without caring that they still don't have anything else making life tolerable. I've had an ED and would never dream of blaming thin sick people - or healthy thin people - who happened to be wearing nice clothes and smiling, or who happened to be dressed skimpily, for the fact that I wanted to be thin. It symbolises being on top of things, self-discipline and being good at something most people wish they could do better, among other things it can represent to other people; all very appealing to people desperate to compensate for perceived personal deficits or oppression or chaos in life. If you want to look like Eugenia, you are someone who already liked how thinness looks, for what thinness represents to you, and you ought to admit that, which it seems some people are too ashamed to do. They are being toxic and selfish towards a fellow ED sufferer, by blaming her for their desire to be thin. They saw her and liked how she looked because they are people who like how thinness looks, NOT vice versa.

In the depths of it I was made to participate in baking a cake for someone (my grandma I think). My mother was aIso kind of complicit in the ED, like Deb - which didn't help. I learned that baking sweet stuff was a way to be around the food, without any of the calories ... It also served the sick purpose of kind of ...testing my willpower even further. You are so , so starving in that state it gives a sick pleasure to control it even in such circumstances. Then there is a weird pleasure from seeing others enjoy the food you have made, while having none... It's so incredibly unhealthy. You can't force someone to stop having an ED, especially this severe. Who knows what they've done to try and help. Parents can only do so much to support their children, but when it comes to addiction, self image issues/mental health; it's out of their hands besides providing them encouragement to seek help and the care that they need in-between. EC has had this issue for YEARS. You can certainly intervene, force her into a facility until she's healthy enough but it will only result in a rebound. It's like a huge person getting weight loss surgery before they resolve the problem causing the overeating. It may solve the problem for now, but the ED still exists.

How does noone think how odd it is how everytime she body checks, she does the open mouth posing.....its so odd. She does it at the end of each clip too when they walk around in most Vlogs, she will do a very valley girl chuckle, open her mouth wide and look at the camera like when someone is trying to be "seductive" in a photo.....its so bizarre. She even does it several times in the kitchen too. She also constantly pulls that piece of hair down to cover that very specific spot on her face in every single video. Just very odd behavior.

Some people think Eugenia is in “palliative care” so to speak. Basically meaning her mom has tried to intervene in the past but Eugenia wasn’t having it, so now they’re just trying to let her be as comfortable as possible. You can’t force someone to recover from an ED, and she is a VERY severe case. Idk if I believe they’ve tried to get her serious help, but I can definitely see them giving up on her ability to recover at all and so.. just letting her live like this.

I realize she comes off as super sweet and almost childishly naive but in my opinion she knows exactly what she is doing and is fully aware of her “situation” and what she is advertising as an “influencer”. What I would like to understand is the logic behind KZitem’s rules. Can anyone explain to me why (for example) the words death and “un-alive-ing” are heavily censored and demonetized, while allowing an influencer to base a whole ass channel around watching them un-alive-ing themselves and influencing others to do the same? A big part of my eating disorder when I was suffering more severely was actually getting into cooking and baking as a distraction. Now what you said is completely valid but I have an inkling this isn’t a step in the right direction at all with Eugenia. Disordered thoughts drive some people to over cook and over bake and get overly interested in the food making process, for other people only that is. I think this might be exactly that. I see many of my former habits in Eugenia, either this is full blown trolling or what I mentioned before. Having control over the food and also having the control to not partake in it is gratifying to the sick mind I suppose. She doesn’t look comfortable at all, and I’m not saying that there is no chance of her getting more comfortable around food in general, but what I am saying is this far into her disorder, it is very unlikely.

I think if you reviewed some of her older, more controversial, videos where she actually had a personality, the vibe is a bit different & less boring tbh. But I wouldn’t blame you if you stopped watching her because, her content is pretty boring regardless, if we’re being honest here. Theres so substance. It’s very vanilla with a splash of wtf am I watching. What you said too about her KZitem is just about her appearance basically, and the content is just the side content, I can see that. Because I doubt people are watching her to learn how to cook. Or to get tips on where to buy things. Or how to do their hair or makeup at this point. Or watch her to get the best locations to vacate or to visit. It’s just giving bland vanity at its finest. Also her newer videos I will agree are pretty boring. We know what to expect. She puts the same formula in every video, it’s very easy to predict what she’s going to do at this point. High pitched voice. Pointing everything out around her randomly. Making observations on everything with the same few word enhancers she uses. Always being surprised by everything and clueless to how everything works. Saying sorry a lot. A lot of awkward moments of her body checking or her just looking into the camera saying “So yup. Hehe, this is a nice day. Yeah haha. Very very pretty today.” Or just Creepily looking into the camera for awhile up close without saying anything. Wearing skimpy revealing clothes, or just really unusual out there clothes. (Some are cute) Struggling doing things that she knows she’s not able to do, and laughing it off then just posing. A LOT of hair touching…like every few seconds… Clothes hauls are just her body checking, “accidentally”showing her underwear alot and saying “this is so cute. It’s like so pretty and everything like that. This is super cute wow. This is a red top, this top is red. This is a red cute shirt, super cute..” basically the same set of words on how she would describe anything really. And Just a whole lot of nothing…She doesn’t really have anything to give to the audience except for her appearance, & I think she knows that. Her audience is either other ED people, fetish people, people that are shocked by her appearance & can’t stop watching. Others that watch her because they cannot believe she’s still…here. People who watch to just use her content to edit it & mock her. Some that watch because they’ve been following her since she started a KZitem, are are waiting for that miracle of a moment where she “gets help”. Some people watch her just to study her mannerisms trying to figure out if she’s really just that sick or if she’s pretending to be extra air headed for the views. People who watch just to be horrible to her, because they hate her with so much intense passion to be mean because they either see right through her, are jealous(for some reason), or just simply love seeing people suffer. And those that follow her just waiting for her to admit she has a problem in general. Not even to get help, but to just say hey I have an ED. Upset mothers because she won’t restrict her channel to a certain age groups, because their daughters watch her & think I can look like this and be okay because Eugenia looks okay and she says she doesn’t have a problem. She’s always happy too. I want to be like her and look like her. Then they get sick. And then of course there’s the people that watch her only to warn newer younger audiences in the comments, that may be influenced by her to be weary.

I'm personally loving you covering eugenia, I am fascinated by her and especially the dynamic between her and her mother ... BUT it does get frustrating because it feels like there's such a façade/wall up between her and her audience. And after years of following her story, it's become abundantly clear that we're probably never going to get a deeper understanding of why things are the way they are for her.

As a collector of anything to do with frogs, including caring for real ones, I want that frog. That's the first thing that peaked my interest in an EC video.
