I recently bought 30 sealed packs (from an unsealed box) of 1989-90 NBA Hoops on eBay for about $35 shipped. What I originally thought was a decent deal on packs that could have Michael Jordan or a David Robinson rookie card turned into what I think was a scam.
How could I open 30 packs and not pull a single Jordan or Robinson, yet find 3 or 4 of a lot of lesser stars and commons? The answer is because you can see the first card in each pack through the plastic packaging, and smart folks have learned which top cards have Jordans and Robinsons in them.
With that said, I still had fun opening the packs (including the 24 I opened in this video) and I found a bunch of Hall of Famers, All-Stars and rookie cards of Reggie Lewis, Jeff Hornacek, Rik Smits and Dan Majerle. Unfortunately none of these cards carry much value though. In the end, I’m only out $35 so it’s not too bad.
What do you guys think? Did I get scammed? What are your memories of these cards? I’d love to hear from you.
As always, thanks for watching. Please subscribe to the feed if you haven’t already.
Have a great night!
