I have one of these too. Bit more gold colour than yours and looks like a bit has been snipped off it too. Im gradually going through what was my grandads collection and theres a lot there so your vids are really helpful. Many thanks, Dan

Shame it wasn't a real one! I'm glad to see you're still making videos, I'll patiently wait until the video where you actually find a gold coin for three quid appears :D

This particular token was issued by George Yorke Iliffe and Frederick Gardner of Birmingham around 1880 as card counters, going by the reverse legend "G.Y.I.ET.F.G.REX.S.UF.ST.DS.T.M.S.ET."

No idea where those fake guineas came from but as a school kid in the 1960s there were quite a few of them around but these ones were gold coloured probably made of brass & used as tokens or gambling chips.

Unlucky Paul, these do seem to be a common find. Think the giveaway for me was the size of the shield/emblem, takes up too much of the face. Thanks for coming by the channel, I see you’ve had a bit of a hiatus! Welcome back!

Hi LAFTA, My heart missed a beat when I saw George the third's face staring at me but to be honest, as soon as I touched it I knew there was something wrong. Yes I have had a bit of a break from making coin videos. Hopefully I'll be making more soon.

Gaming tokens were mostly made during Victoria's reign. Plus the advertisement tokens which would also get used as gaming tokens. The examples to keep an eye out for are the large scalloped edge type.

I also found a gaming token with my father in laws coins. Took me a little while to Suss it out but again the dates did not match the kings reign. There are people who collect gaming tokens too. Thanks for your videos 👍
