Yeah do it man. It needs a 440. My first car was a 66 Sport Fury 383 2bbl auto in 1976. Canary yellow with black vinyl top and black interior. Bucket seats and console. Immaculate shape as it was a hand me down from my parents who bought it new.

Sport Fury’s are way cool. That is a great project. And, the 440 is the way to go. The fact that your parents had a very similar car totally justifies another set of wheels in the driveway. I got my coronet convertible because my mom had one. I’m always looking for a 65 Newport convertible because that was my favorite car that my dad had when I was a kid. I don’t really have a good reason for owning a 70 challenger other than I being intrigued by Vanishing Point, but that’s good enough. I support you in this endeavor.

This video popped up in my recommendations today, I have a '68 Fury VIP fast top with a 318 that has been in the family since 1977 that I rescued in 2009. You helped me get the kickdown linkage working right via the comment section a few months ago. Drove it today actually. These are awesome cars. Well worth putting in an engine of your choice and racking up some happy miles. My first car was a '67 Sport Fury also with a 318. It made it to 265,200 miles before a freak accident at my parents house did some real damage to the stub frame. Had I known then what I know now, I could have saved the car since the stub frame bolts on and I knew where there were three more '67 Furys with everything I needed to fix it way back in 1992.

My dad drove a 1966 Dodge Monaco 4dr w/ 2bbl 383. That car, and the 1969 4dr Furies provided by the LAUSD Driver Training program (yes, they used to actually teach useful things back then) are what I learned to drive in. If you can parallel park one of those Furies, you can park ANYTHING! At about $0.25/gal, plus "gas wars" between stations, SoCal was paradise in the early '70s. Never will go back. After Mom died, Dad traded the Monaco for a '70 Duster with a 318. That was even more fun. I always wanted a '70 'Cuda. Then the "original" fuel crisis of '74 happened, & VWs were everywhere. Love your videos - a lot of nostalgia. Keep the videos ( and the cars) going! BTW, I drive a 2019 Warlock now.

Being one that lived with these cars, that was a dark era that we lived through the 80's that is. Lots of used parts. Lots of questionable quality electrical parts. It wasn't unusual to have had replaced several alternators, starters etc. Until the supply chain woes as of recent, we are living in a great time for these cars to get them fixed right. The bad 80's parts caused a lot of those cars to end up re-cycled unfortunately. Happy new year!
