You clearly do not read the Scriptures. Repent from your sins, idolatry and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ and you will be saved! Jesus and Mary both do not agree with the "veneration" of Mary: "And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!” But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” (Luke 11:27-28) "Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was." (Luke 1:26-29) Mary did indeed have other children, and by the way, when Mary gave birth to Jesus, it wasn't giving birth to GOD, but to the humanity of Christ, GOD has no beginning and no end. Secondly giving birth removes virginity, so by giving birth, Mary was no longer a virgin. "After this He went down to Capernaum, He, His mother, His brothers, and His disciples; and they did not stay there many days." (John 2:12) "While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. Then one said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.” But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” (Matthew 12:46-50) "Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him." (Mark 6:3) Repent from your pagan beliefs in worshipping or "venerating" Mary. It is not Mary who you venerate but the roman pagan goddess Diana, who the pagan Ephesians used the same veneration. "So not only is this trade of ours in danger of falling into disrepute, but also the temple of the great goddess Diana may be despised and her magnificence destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worship.” (Acts 19:27)

@@user-or4ut2qi3q Firstly, even Jesus tells St. Peter to, "strengthen your brethren", referring to the Apostles, when only St. Andrew is his blood-brother. First, in Aramaic (The Gospels; St. Matthew we know for certain) and Koine Greek for the rest. Even Abraham and Lot are called "brothers" when they have an uncle-to-nephew relationship. St. James the Just a.k.a. St. James the Less (short) a.k.a. "Brother of Jesus" isn't even related to Jesus by blood. His parents are "The other Mary" and Cleopas. We actually can know that James and Joseph and Simon and Judas aren't the children of Mary and Joseph, because the Gospels themselves tell us they aren't, and the early church fathers make clear who these men were. So let's go back to the gospel itself, and we'll look in the Gospel of Matthew at the evidence for who these men were. So in trying to figure out who they are we don't just want to look at Matthew 13, we also want to look at the second time Matthew mentioned them. It's in Matthew chapter 27. So if you fast-forward to the Gospel of Matthew 27, and look at Matthew's account of the crucifixion, we're going to see something very interesting. We'll see that Matthew tells us about this group of women that follow Jesus to the cross, and this is what he says, in Matthew 27 verse 55 we read: There were also many women there [i.e. at the cross], looking on from afar, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him; among whom were Mary Magdalene [number one], and Mary the mother of James and Joseph [number two], and [number three,] the mother of the sons of Zebedee. Pause there for a second. So notice, Matthew's describing the scene at the foot of the cross, and noticed there's lots of Mary's there. Mary was a very popular name in Judaism at the time of Jesus, because it was the Greek form of the Hebrew name Miriam, Moses' sister. So we have Mary Magdalene (number one), then Mary the mother of James and Joseph. Now that second woman is the one that's important for us, because James and Joseph have already been identified in the Gospel of Matthew. We met them in chapter 13 when Matthew called them the brothers of Jesus. Now, what's significant about this identification in Matthew 27 for us, is that if you keep reading the account of Jesus' crucifixion and burial, he's going to go on to tell us that this Mary that was at the foot of the cross, also went out to the tomb with Mary Magdalene. And listen to how Matthew describes her. In Matthew 27:60 it says that they took "a clean linen shroud, and laid it in his own new tomb, which [Joseph, meaning Joseph of Arimathea,] had hewn in the rock; and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and departed." And then in verse 61 it says, "Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the sepulchre." Now who is this other Mary? Well, as most scholars will argue here, this is a reference to Mary, the mother of James and Joseph, and so this reference here cannot, it simply cannot, be referring to the Virgin Mary, because it's impossible that Matthew would have ever referred to Jesus' mother as, quote, "the other Mary." Obviously here, the other Mary refers to the mother of James and Joseph, who was at the foot of the cross, so this other Mary is explicitly identified in the Gospel of Matthew as being the mother of the two men called the brothers of Jesus. So we have a clue here, if this other Mary is their mother, then they can't be the children of the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus. So even if we just had Matthew's Gospel alone, we would have sufficient evidence to identify the brothers of Jesus as some other kind of relation, probably a cousin, the sons of this woman that Matthew very tellingly calls the other Mary. But we don't just have Matthew's Gospel, we also have evidence from the Gospel of John. So if you turn to John's account of the crucifixion, in Johbn 19, we get one more piece of evidence about this woman called the other Mary. So in John 19:25 we read these words: Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. Alright pause there. So John, again, is giving a slightly different account of the crucifixion. He's highlighting some of the same people, but he's giving us a little more information. So he tells us that the Virgin Mary, number one, was present at the foot of the cross. We know this from John's Gospel. Second though, it also tells us that Mary's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, was present at the cross. Now this is very significant, because this Mary, who's called the sister of the Virgin Mary, can be correlated with the other Mary in the Gospel of Matthew, who was called the mother of James and Joseph. In other words, we have even more evidence of who the other Mary is. She's identified as, not the wife of Joseph, but the wife of another man name Clopas, and this would of course make Joseph and James, the two sons of Mary, the so-called brothers of Jesus, the children of Mary and her husband Clopas, this other Mary and this, as of yet unknown man, Clopas. We'll come back to him in just a minute. Notice here one other point. The very fact that John refers to the Virgin Mary, the mother of Christ, as having a "sister," in Greek an adelphé, named Mary, proves the point that will often be made, that the word brother, adelphos, or the word sister, adelphé, doesn't necessarily always mean a blood brother or a blood sister. It can also mean a relative of some sort, like a cousin. Because it seems very unlikely, it's not impossible, but it's very unlikely that the Virgin Mary had a blood sister named Mary as well. But it would've been very common for her to have a cousin or a relative named Mary, and that's who this other Mary is being identified here as in the Gospel of John. So when we take the evidence from Matthew's Gospel, and we put it together with the evidence from John's Gospel, it seems quite clear, in fact there's no other way to really read the evidence, that James and Joseph, the so-called brothers of Jesus, are the sons of another Mary who's related to the Virgin Mar,y and who is the wife of a man name Clopas. Now if that's all we had I think that would be sufficient to settle the point that the brothers of Jesus, the so-called brothers in the Gospels, are in fact his relatives, his cousins. But that's not all we have, we also have external evidence from the early church fathers that clarify that these otherwise mysterious figures of Mary and Clopas and James and Joseph, the brothers of Jesus, that the early church knew exactly who these people were, and that they also knew that they were not the children of Mary and Joseph. Instead that they were relatives of Jesus, that is they were his cousins.

not Mary's children,...yes.....but which early Church father said they were not Joseph's????
@SonicSnakeRecords
10 ай бұрын
@@anarchorepublican5954 In order to see this clearly, we need to go outside the Bible to look at the writings of an early church father named Eusebius. Eusebius was the most important historian of the early church, he was writing in the early fourth century A.D. a very famous work called The Church History, and in that book he draws together evidence from earlier centuries, and identifies who these so-called brothers of Jesus are. So let's see what Eusebius has to say about the identity of James, Joseph, Mary and Clopas. There are three passages in Eusebius that are worth paying attention to if we want to answer the question, who are the brothers of Jesus? Are they the children of Mary? The first comes from Eusebius's Church History, book 4: paragraph 22, and it says this: After James the just had suffered martyrdom, for the same reason as the Lord, Simeon, his cousin [meaning the Lords cousin], the son of Clopas, was appointed Bishop. Whom they all propose because he was another cousin of the Lord. Alright, pause there. So notice what Eusebius just said. He is showing here that James, the brother of Jesus, that's what Paul calls him, who is also known as James the Just, the first bishop of Jerusalem, the one who's mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles and in the letters of Paul, after James the brother Jesus was martyred, the next person to be appointed Bishop was Simeon, or Simon, who was another one of the so-called brothers of Jesus. But as Eusebius makes clear, he wasn't a child of Mary, he was in fact the cousin of Jesus, because he was the son of Clopas. So the bishops of Jerusalem, starting with James as the first Bishop, and Simon as the second Bishop, were cousins of Jesus, and the early church fathers knew this. And Eusebius wasn't making this point in any kind of defense of the perpetual virginity of Mary, it was just standard early Christian tradition going back to the early fathers. But this isn't the only place he identifies these men. A second passage in The Church History is also important. In book 3: paragraphs 11 through 12, Eusebius talks about, again, the martyrdom of James, the Bishop of Jerusalem, and he goes on to give us a little more information about who Clopas was. Listen to what he writes: After the martyrdom of James and the capture of Jerusalem which immediately followed, the story goes that those of the apostles and disciples of the Lord who were still alive came together from everyplace with those who were humanly speaking of the family of the Lord (for many of them were then still alive) and they all took counsel together as to whom they ought to judge worthy to succeed James. They all unanimously decided that Simeon [or Simon], the son of Clopas, whom the scripture of the Gospel also mentions; was worthy of the throne of the diocese there. He [meaning Simon] was, so it's said, a cousin of the Savior. For Hegesippus [another church father] relates that Clopas was the brother of Joseph. Alright, stop there. So notice, Eusebius clarifies here, not only is Mary the mother of James and Joseph related to the Virgin Mary, Clopass here is identified as a brother or a relative of Joseph. So this explains who the so-called brothers of Jesus are, they are, once again, his cousins, and everybody knew it. It was accepted not just by Eusebius, but by other writers, such as Hegesippus. Finally, I want to add one more text from Eusebius, this is from book 3, paragraph 32 of The Church History. He also goes on to tell us about another one of Jesus's so-called brothers. If you remember from the Gospel Matthew, four people were mentioned: Simon, Joseph, James and Jude (or Judas). How would you like to have that name? But that was the name of one of the so-called brothers of Jesus, a very common name in the first century. And Eusebius writes this: The same writer says that other grandsons of one of the so-called brothers of the Savior [noticed Eusebius says so-called brothers], named Judas, survived the martyrdoms that were taking place, to the same reign, after they given in the time of Domitian, and the testimony was already recorded on them in behalf of the faith in Christ. They came therefore he writes: “and presided over every church as witnesses belonging to the Lords family.” So, the third so-called brother Jesus, named Judas, actually survived well into the late first century, and he was well known to everyone. And guess who they thought he was? Not the son of Mary, but Jesus's cousin, one of the sons of Clopas. So in closing then, what do we have before us? If we look not just at the Gospels, but the Gospels and the writings of the early church fathers, again even those like Eusebius, who in this case isn’t trying to defend the perpetual virginity of Mary, he’s just stating the history of the early Christian bishops in the city of Jerusalem, we see that the evidence converges to show that the so-called brothers of Jesus mentioned in the Gospels, they’re not the children of the Virgin Mary. It doesn't say that they are the children of Joseph, either from a former marriage or whatnot. It says very clearly that they were the children of the other Mary, who is the wife of Clopas, and that these men, James the brother of Jesus, Simon the brother Jesus, went on to be the bishops of the early church in Jerusalem. There’s no mystery about who they were, they were the cousins of Jesus.

very good, you also forgot to mention that at the crucifixion there was also ANOTHER woman who was not named but she was the MOTHER of Zebedee's children. By looking at Zebedee's Children we find: Mark 3:17 "James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee (the ones Jesus named Boanerges, which means “Sons of Thunder”), Protestant heretics also claim that there were 2 James and they also claim that John was Mary's son because Jesus said in John 19:26-27 "He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” So, by finding Zebedee's children we eliminate any doubt that James was a carnal brother of Jesus because James and John are son's of Zebedee and the woman who was not named, but who we know for a fact she is the MOTHER of Zebedee's Children.

Wait I’m sorry I’m a little confused. Mary as a virgin gave birth to Jesus when she was betrothed to Joseph. According to Matthew 1:18 what was conceived in her was from the Holy Spirit. According to Matthew 1:25 “Joseph knew her not until she gave birth to Jesus.” So that means that after the birth of Jesus, Joseph and Mary did in fact consummate their marriage, meaning she wasn’t a virgin for the rest of her life, which makes it completely reasonable for Jesus to have siblings because Mary was not a virgin for the rest of her life after the birth of Jesus and birth control wasn’t exactly a thing like it is now. Why is this even a debate? Scripture clearly tells us. If you wanna know the truth take it up with Scripture, God’s living, breathing word. Can’t get truer than truth itself.

Holy Mary didn’t give birth to anyone after Jesus 🤦🏻♂️. Nor Joesph had kids from a previous marriage. The first thing to understand is that the term brother (Gk. adelphos) has a broader meaning than uterine brothers. It can mean a biological brother, but it can also mean an extended relative, or even a spiritual brother. Take Genesis 13:8 for example. Here the word brother is being used to describe the relationship between Abraham and Lot, who were not biological brothers but uncle and nephew: “So Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers” (Gen 13:8, NIV; see also 14:12). Because of the Bible’s broad semantic range of “brother,” we can rest assured that although St. Paul writes, “[Jesus] appeared to more than five hundred…brothers at the same time” (1 Cor. 15:6), we need not infer from this verse that Mary gave birth to more than 500 children!

Chromatius of Aquileia AD 407 But concerning what the Evangelist said, “And he did not know her till she had borne her firstborn son,” not a few careless people insist on asking whether after the Lord’s birth the holy mother Mary had relations with Joseph. But this is not admissible on the grounds of either faith or truth. Far be it indeed that after the sacrament of so great a mystery and after the birth of the sublime Lord, one should believe that the Virgin Mary was intimate with a man. Remember that Miriam the prophetess of the Old Testament (the sister of Moses and Aaron) remained a virgin unsullied by man, having beheld the light of heavenly signs after the plagues of Egypt and the parting of the Red Sea and the Lord’s glory going in advance and seen in a pillar of fire and clouds. It is not plausible therefore that the Mary of the Gospel, a virgin bearing God, who beheld God’s glory not in a cloud but was worthy of carrying him in her virginal womb, had relations with a man. Noah, who was made worthy to converse with God, declared that he would abstain from the conjugal need. Moses, after hearing God calling him from the bush, abstained from conjugal relations. Now are we to believe that Joseph, the man who always did what was right, had relations with holy Mary after the birth of the Lord?

We know in the west that brother has more meanings. We're not all stupid, fat and ignorant unlike what the rest of the world is taught about America. In the gospel of mathew 1:24-25 "When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus." This verse would imply that Joseph consummated his marriage with his wife Mary after her virgin birth of Jesus. Unless the gospel of mathew is lying or the catholic church knows something we don't.

I’m Assyrian Christian. We call each other brothers all the time. Random elderly ladies at my church call me son. My best friends in the church call me cousin. This is just middle eastern culture. Also when Jesus was on the cross he said “women behold your son” and he said to the decouple behold your mother.” In middle eastern culture, a son is “needed” to take care of a mother if she is alone. So Jesus left giving her someone to attend to her. Thus, destroying the notion that she had children. The truth is, she never had children before or after Jesus. She was a virgin her entire life. God bless.

@tgegeneral2330 if I may add something you have stated, which I agree. we try to imagine God(granting our separated brethren in faith), believe Jesus is God, in the 2person; having sons & daughters…,grandsons & daughters…great, great great..sons & daughters to the nth generation! Remember we are “adopted” sons & daughters of Him! However, where in the Bible that we have blood relation with the Father Almighty? We’ll go back to the first creation story. Romans 8:14-17 “Children of God through Adoption.* 14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.j 15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received a spirit of adoption, through which we cry, “Abba,* Father!”k 16 The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,l 17 and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if only we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.”

Yes, because you are brother in Christ like Mark 3:31 - 35 tell us when Jesus compares his mother by blood and brothers by blood to those who believe around Him: ' And his mother and his brothers came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him. And a crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers are outside, seeking you.” And he answered them, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” And looking about at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.” '

The term "cousin" does not exist in Aramaic, the language Jesus and his relatives spoke. Instead of cousin, they called their cousins "brothers" or "sisters". Also, when Jesus "gets lost" in the temple being 12 years old (Lc 2,41-52) the Bible does not mention any siblings accompanied st. Joseph and Virgin Mary. So if they had 4 children after that event and before Jesus started his public life at 30, that gives you 18 years to have 4 children who had to be adults by the time Jesus began his mission. That is, 9 months of pregnancy x 4. Plus, at least 3 months between each child's conception. Sibling no 1 would be 17 year & 3 months old when the wedding at Canaan took place. Sibling no 2 would be 16 year & 3 month old. Sibling no 3 would be 15 year and 3 month old. Sibling no 4 would be 14 year and 3 month old.

Anecdotal evidence for calling people Brothers vs Cousin doesn't matter. Read the translations. Cousin was not the word they used. Brother is. He also had sisters. Jesus’ brothers are mentioned in several Bible verses. Matthew 12:46, Luke 8:19, and Mark 3:31 say that Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see Him. The Bible tells us that Jesus had four brothers: James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas (Matthew 13:55). The Bible also tells us that Jesus had sisters, but they are not named or numbered (Matthew 13:56). In John 7:1-10, His brothers go on to the festival while Jesus stays behind. In Acts 1:14, His brothers and mother are described as praying with the disciples. Galatians 1:19 mentions that James was Jesus’ brother. The most natural conclusion of these passages is to interpret that Jesus had actual blood half-siblings. Some Roman Catholics claim that these “brothers” were actually Jesus’ cousins. However, in each instance, the specific Greek word for “brother” is used. While the word can refer to other relatives, its normal and literal meaning is a physical brother. There was a Greek word for “cousin,” and it was not used. Further, if they were Jesus’ cousins, why would they so often be described as being with Mary, Jesus’ mother? There is nothing in the context of His mother and brothers coming to see Him that even hints that they were anyone other than His literal, blood-related, half-brothers. A second Roman Catholic argument is that Jesus’ brothers and sisters were the children of Joseph from a previous marriage. An entire theory of Joseph’s being significantly older than Mary, having been previously married, having multiple children, and then being widowed before marrying Mary is invented without any biblical basis. The problem with this is that the Bible does not even hint that Joseph was married or had children before he married Mary. If Joseph had at least six children before he married Mary, why are they not mentioned in Joseph and Mary’s trip to Bethlehem (Luke 2:4-7) or their trip to Egypt (Matthew 2:13-15) or their trip back to Nazareth (Matthew 2:20-23)? There is no biblical reason to believe that these siblings are anything other than the actual children of Joseph and Mary. Those who oppose the idea that Jesus had half-brothers and half-sisters do so, not from a reading of Scripture, but from a preconceived concept of the perpetual virginity of Mary, which is itself clearly unbiblical: “But he (Joseph) had no union with her (Mary) until she gave birth to a son. And he gave Him the name Jesus” (Matthew 1:25). Jesus had half-siblings, half-brothers and half-sisters, who were the children of Joseph and Mary. That is the clear and unambiguous teaching of God’s Word.

What non Catholics seem to think is that Mary being a perpetual virgin somehow elevates her to a higher status than Jesus. This isn’t the case. He wants you as far as possible away from her because he *KNOWS* she loves you so much and she is our most powerful intercessor and follows God's will to a 'T'. Actually, Luther and Calvin believed Mary was ever-virgin. Luther: “Christ… was the only Son of Mary, and the Virgin Mary bore no children besides Him… I am inclined to agree with those who declare that “brothers” really means “cousins” here, for Holy Writ and the Jews call cousins brothers” Calvin said “There have been certain folk who have wished to suggest from this passage [Mt 1:25] that the Virgin Mary had other children than the Son of God, and that Joseph had then dwelt with her later; but what folly this is! For the Gospel writer did not wish to record what happened afterwards; he simply wished to make clear Joseph’s obedience and to show that Joseph had been well and truly assured that it was God who had sent His angel to Mary. He had therefore never dwelt with her nor had he shared her company… And besides this Our Lord Jesus Christ is called the first born. This is not because the Gospel writer is paying regard to the precedence. Scripture speaks thus of naming the first-born whether or not there was any question of the second.”

In order to see this clearly, we need to go outside the Bible to look at the writings of an early church father named Eusebius.

@@Jupiter1423 We actually can know that James and Joseph and Simon and Judas aren't the children of Mary and Joseph, because the Gospels themselves tell us they aren't, and the early church fathers make clear who these men were.

This is an interesting take, but they even called Jesus’s brothers and sisters out by name within the scriptures. Not only this but Paul also referred to mentioning James, the Lords brother. But while it is, that it may not always mean brother, the fact that it also does mean brother should not imply that it was wrong or unthinkable for Mary to have other children. She was married to Joseph, was given Christ through the Holy Spirit (not from her own dna in any way, otherwise Christ would be born into sin). Her having children after Jesus would not be impermissible in any way because she is not Married to God the father and her relationship to God was that of his maidservant. She was not exempt from being sinful in any way. So there’s no placement or restrictions on her to have children. We can’t let a traditional belief affect the scriptures. We have to take into account that this was most likely the case. It points more to it than against it in just about every way possible.

But in mathew he wrote that Joseph didn't "know" his wife until after she bore Jesus, then after he "knew" his wife. I don't think that dishonors Mary at all whatsoever.

The word “until” has a different meaning in the original text. It is used in this case to indicate that Joseph did not know Mary before the birth of Jesus so we know there is no chance Joseph is the biological father of Jesus but it also does not indicate he knew her after the birth. A similar example is seen in the Old Testament concerning King David and his first wife, Michal. 2 Samuel 6:23 says Michal had no children until the day of her death. In this example too we see this different use of the word “until”. Our usage of the word would indicate she had children after her death but obviously the context of the passage says otherwise.

Beating a dead horse here but Matthew 1:25 clearly states that Joseph "knew her not till she had given birth". Both Mark 6:3 and Matthew 13:54-56 list his four brothers, one of whom wrote a letter in the New Testament and speaks of sisters as well. The Bible has a different word for cousins, genealogy really mattered to people back then. Also in Matthew 12:47 people tell Jesus that his mother and brothers want to talk to him. These people are clearly under the impression that these are his actual brothers. It is quite telling that this man thinks sex is so disgusting that Joseph would forego his duties as a husband since his wife gave birth to our Lord and savior. This is of course the real heresy and has led the Catholic church astray to worshiping Mary and confining their priesthood to celibacy. There is nothing unholy about the intercourse between a husband and his wife.

One more thing: "The angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called Son of God. Mary herself was immaculately conceived (did you miss that part?) and was assumed into heaven.... she was not divine like her son but in order for Jesus to manifest on earth in human form he would not have come through an ordinary woman as you claim (the angel Gabriel himself said, "Hail, full of grace; the Lord is with thee" - she was in a state of grace like no other). Mary is not "worshipped" by Catholics that's a protestant myth - when we pray to her or other saints it is for their INTERCESSION (it's like when you protestants have people pray for you but instead we are asking Mary for her help in our prayers to God) - Catholics have been saying the Our Father since the beginning and our prayers and catechism makes it clear we also pray "in Jesus' name" so yeah, we know we pray directly to God - chill out. ❤

Jesus at the last moment on the cross said to his mother, "this is your son", then said to John, "this is your mother", John became the son of mother Mary. In the Catholic church, nuns are able to take a vow of celibacy giving their lives 100% to the glory of God. Moreover, Mother Mary directly experienced the great gift of grace to conceive and give birth to the Son of God, as well as caring for and witnessing the work of Jesus on earth until he died on the cross, rose and ascended to heaven.

So where does he get all this?" That's from the CJB translation... seems pretty clear that Jesus had later siblings. As to the cross incident where he gives his mother to John. Well coming off the back of his statement at the house "who are my mother and brother and sisters? Are they not those who do the will of the Father?" Seems clear in Jesus' viewpoint he is making a new found family, by the time of the cross his mother had come to fully believe what must be done but the other siblings had not so they were no longer family. Simply roots that were to be cut off unless they came to belief. So he instead entrusted his mother to the beloved disciple. How do we know his earthly siblings didn't believe in his claims? Yochanan 7:2-5 "But the festival of Sukkot in Y'hudah was near; so his brothers said to him "Leave here and go into Y'hudah, so that your talmidim[disciples] can see the miracles you do; for no one who wants to become known[most translations have become a public figure] acts in secret. His word is truth. The Apostle Paul, who was intrinsic in the spread of the gospel in advance of our Lord's ascension says in his letter to the Christians in Rome and highlights that it is Jesus and the Holy spirit that intercede with the father in behalf of all believers when struggling in prayer In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. Romans 8:26-27

I got you a few passages in the Bible that talk about the brothers and sisters of Jesus. From the context, it is clear that they are talking about real brothers and sisters. In the first passages presented (Matthew 13), Jesus' home-town's folk are questioning His authority by saying: "Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And are not all his sisters with us?" Then we hear it from Jesus' mouth when at the end of the passage He quotes: "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household." In the second passage I would like to bring up (Matthew 12), Jesus is comparing his blood mother and blood brothers to the people around Him when His mother and brothers were outside calling for Him saying: "But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother." The books, chapters and verses are below. I can continue this discussion if one is interested. Matthew 13:53 - 57 Same happening is written by Mark in 6:1 - 4 By Matthew: ' And when Jesus had finished these parables, he went away from there, and coming to his hometown he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And are not all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.” ' Matthew 12:46 - 50 Same happening is written by Mark in 3:31 - 35 by Matthew: ' While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” '
