quintana either played some of the best 4d chess ever or he got some crazy second wind at the very end to sprint on that ramp at the end. every time there was an attack he chilled, watched others panic and slowly brought it back. I know he scouted this stage last week ( from his IG), so he knew the deal.
@Erxgli1992

Almeida never respond to an attack immediately. He puts his own tempo and eventually catch it or die trying. Even his attacks are not explosive, he can only drop guys after 1 min of setting a crazy tempo
@drsus0
2 жыл бұрын
@@Erxgli1992 I was referring to attacks by carapaz and the others...Almeida seems to be doing the same as Quintana as far as biting his time or simply keeping tempo. quintana had one try that seems to be just to check everyone's level when carapaz went w him, he also kept pulling to the side to get eyes on people's state.
@Erxgli1992

Sorry, my comment wasn't clear at all. Quintana won't ever need to respond if a guy like Almeida is in the group. As long as neither of them blow up Quintana knows he can go on Almeida's wheel until the finish. Quintana is way too smart and Almeida way too predictable

Well he is at the right team now. Pog is the undisputed leader of the UAE team in races he chooses right now but in can’t and won’t do all the GT’s or 1 week classics and that offers Almeida a chance to prove he is a worthy alternate UAE team leader. The inside line had nothing to do with it. It actually disadvantaged him because the inside line is the Slow line and he had to soft-pedal half a stroke and you clearly see how much momentum he lost. Nario got out of a saddle sooner and pulled out a bike and a half on him exiting the turn. Nario Quintana has never been any good at sprinting. Almeida simply had the legs. He blew past him so easily he could look over, ease up, and his right hand was on its way up when he hit the stripe. Nario did all he could. Now, if you're suggesting he should have rode him into the fence that's a different thing.

He is the biggest prospect of the sport right now. Pogacar is already a GOAT. Remco Evenepoel showed that he is NOT a good enough climber ATM to be considered the best prospect in the world. Ayuso could be spains next big thing. Give him time. He has potential for winning a lot of different types of racing bc of strong sprints. Good TT and promising climbing for a 19 year old (better than Remco was at 19 where despite winning, he was dropped on the climbs San Sebastian)

As regards the stage I think if he’d shut the door more Sergio would have beaten him and he’d end up 2nd anyway. As regards the GC I don’t know how many bonus sprints are left & isn’t there 1 stage left in which bonuses are possible for Almeida? It might be that it is irrelevant.
@monsiogabar525
2 жыл бұрын
All of the last three stages feature two intermediate sprints each, with each sprint offering 3, 2, and 1 bonus seconds for the first three riders across the line. Both sprints in tomorrow's stage are fairly close to the finish so UAE might decide to chase the break before both sprints. On stage 6, there is an intermediate sprint with around 22 km left. Stage 7 is definitely going to be the most crucial one. There is an intermediate sprint after only 9 km, so the break might not have formed yet. Then obviously, there is the circuit with the Montjuic climb. I would say the climb suits Almeida more because he is more punchy than Quintana. There's definitely going to be fireworks on the last stage.
@eberger02
