I feel like if it was marketed as an arcade game, it would have been fine. Because it was a great arcade game but a bad ninja gaiden. (i think i still prefer it over 3 but we dont talk about that) But in reality, it should've just been a standard ninja gaiden, featuring stronger emphasis on brutality and gore given Yaiba's more sporadic fighting style. And instead of cybernetics, we should've seen something akin to a devil trigger. (Becoming part demon and selling his soul for a chance to get his one with Ryu. It should've had multiple points in the game where we clash with Ryu to better define their rivalry, and towards the end give them a common foe, no doubt a vigoorian lord. Leaving both of them too injured to continue their battle, but their rivalry goes on. I really liked Yaiba for his potential. I've always been a big fan of anti-heroes, but it hurts seeing how much potential was wasted. The allure of Ninja Gaiden 3 was Ryu confronting his inner demons, and lust for battle. It would've been nice if after that, he came across Yaiba, someone hellbent of revenge and violence. Complete opposites, and great rivalry fuel. But we never got that. Just more wasted potential. I hoe they give him another shot.
