#postpartumtips Urad Dal or Black Gram is a heavy food to digest and is high on Vaata. This is one ingredient you want to keep away from eating in the first 40 days.
The first 40 days is a period of high Vaata in the mother. Vaata is that constitution in the body, which when high leads to indigestion, constipation, postpartum depression, hair fall, weakness of bones, poor memory, etc. So the new mother is suggested to eat all foods that reduce Vaata and that's why they are asked to skip the Idli and Dosas and any other foods made with Urad Dal.
Do share this with new mothers & pregnant women so it helps them recover faster. And I would love to hear which foods you avoided in your postpartum period!
Let's keep this beautiful postpartum tradition alive! Do comment below!
Love,
Shalini.
