📝 Diddy Kong Racing is a kart racing game for the Nintendo 64; released in 1997 it became the fastest selling video game of all time, selling 800,000 copies in two weeks. The game is Rareware's take on the ever popular kart racing genre, popularised by Super Mario Kart on the SNES, and includes a number of Rare's signature characters. What sets it apart from the traditional kart racer is its adventure mode, where players drive, hover or fly through a series of worlds, unlocking subsequent courses as they complete those prior. The game features twenty racing tracks, four battle arenas and a number of boss challenges whereby the player must beat a single island denizen in a one-on-one race.

👉🏽 Dragon Forest is the fourth world of Diddy Kong Racing and its remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS and an area of Timber's Island. Dragon Forest is a medieval-themed area featuring castles, villages, and windmills. The minimum requirement for entering the world is 16 Golden Balloons. The active character can access the world by going through the second waterfall left of Wizpig's head statue. Smokey the Dragon is the boss of Dragon Forest.
In Dragon Forest's lobby, each course door is on a village house. The character uses a car to drive around Dragon Forest's lobby.
✅ Windmill Plains is the first area in the Dragon Forest area of Timber Island in the games Diddy Kong Racing and its remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS. The track requires 16 balloons to be unlocked, although 23 balloons are needed to unlock its coin challenge.
This level is notable for its many windmills, which serve as obstacles throughout the stage. The track has a country theme, and it is surrounded by bright green mountains. The road is mostly flat and there are a few long tunnels that can be found in the race. Some areas of the track are also surrounded in water, so players driving in cars have to be careful. Luckily, the track's standard vehicle is the plane, so racers can usually just fly over the watery areas.
✅ Greenwood Village is an area in the Dragon Forest area of Timber Island in the game Diddy Kong Racing. It is also featured in its Nintendo DS remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS. Seventeen Golden Balloons must be collected to access this track.
The track contains a village square which requires precise driving to turn the corners. Many houses can be seen around the sides of the roads, and there are also many tunnels throughout the stage. Therefore, drivers with bad control might have trouble conquering the tracks many twists and turns. Some forks in the roads are also present in this course, but the different roads do not give the racers a major advantage. However, there is an opening in the village square one can use to skip a great deal of the beginning of the level.
✅ Boulder Canyon is an area in the Dragon Forest area of Timber Island in the games Diddy Kong Racing and its remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS. Twenty Golden Balloons are needed to unlock it, but thirty balloons are required to unlock its Silver Coin challenge.
During the race on this track, racers must use their hovercraft to ride over the running water. There are some moving logs floating atop the water to knock players around and hitting into them could bring a player into last place, so they should be avoided at all costs. There is also a bridge farther into the stage and it can rise if a racer is to hit the bell at the end of it. The track is also notorious for its fork in the road, which is made up of two passages in a dark sewer. However, the two roads are not any different from each other and they both lead to the same place. In the Nintendo DS remake, this fork in the road does not have colored walls for differentiation.
Boulder Canyon contains the key to unlock Dragon Forest's challenge level, Smokey Castle. It can be reached if the player raises the bridge and rides over it. With some help from a blue Item Balloon, which is needed to get a speed boost, the player should be able to use the bridge as a ramp to grab the key in a hidden alcove.
✅ Haunted Woods is the fourth course of Dragon Forest and the final prior to Future Fun Land. It appears in Diddy Kong Racing and its Nintendo DS remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS.
The player must have at least 22 Golden Balloons to race on Haunted Woods, and 37 for its Silver Coin Challenge. The stage's default vehicle is Cars, but racers can use Hovercrafts after completing the course twice or via Time Trials.
