You probably wont see this, but it is worth a try. I seriously suggest that you apply at the Post Office. All your military time can be bought back and if you become a carrier , you’ll stay in shape. The pay is not bad and the benefits are decent. You’ll blend in and you really don’t need to be a rocket scientist to do most of the jobs. Just my two cents to a you , if you get this. The Post Office even has a VMF (vechile maintenance facility) where you can turn wrenches if you choose.

Do you need to take a test to work for the post office? I think I might’ve looked into this a while back and I thought I remember them having to take some kind of written exam or something. Just curious if you know what that exam was called and what to study for.

@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway depends on the job (what the post office calls a “craft”). For the maintenance craft (where you’d be anything from a custodian to an electrician to a mechanic working on vehicles or machines) there is testing. If you were to become a mailman you only have what amounts to a personality test. Those exams can be prepared for pretty easily. The main thing about applying to the post office is it is a really slow process. You have to be very patient and usually have another job while waiting. But I second applying because of the ability to buyback military time. Also if you work at the post office you’ll be able to have a second pension (albeit smaller than your military one). But many veterans who also retire from the post office have very solid retirement income.

Have you put any thoughts into property maintenance? I love turning wrenches but I've been doing apartments maintenance for 12+ years now and it's been good to me. Something new every day, yeah there's the repetitive stuff like sink and toilet clogs to pool testing but it pays well and good benefits, usually really good people with the occasional "questionable" person. If your brother is offering you some type of stability, for now accept that opportunity. Get whatever your brother is offering you in writing, so you don’t end up destroying the relationship with your brother or family. If you were a friend of mine, I’d kick your butt, & tell you exactly what I told you. It’s obvious that you are going through some hard times. However I don’t think anyone has basically given you real advice. I could be wrong, but you need to do what you need to do best. That is where you are the most valuable. & stop smoking. Instead of smoking a cigarette for 7 minutes. Use that time to educate yourself in what you are good at, & be their best at what you are good at, so”you” will be most valuable to people that would like & are able to offer you a better financial position. Justin you are gold, that happens to be locked up in a dark safe. Get out of the dark safe, & shine! ✨

I LOVED being a probation officer. Got to do about 80% of the things that made me want to be a cop, but you have bankers hours with weekends and holidays off! Haha. And they don't call you when there's a hurricane! So you may want to consider corrections, particularly for your state DOC.

Also there are other types of jobs where CDL are required where you would just move things around a yard and it’s basically a 8 to 4 job. I’ve been watching you for quite a few years and here is my constructive criticism from the outside looking in. It looks like the reason you’ve had to start over so many times is because you have not been actually stable and consistent at anything for all the years I’ve watched your channel. I can’t even remember how many times you’ve moved, the relationships haven’t been stable and the one that it appears have caused you the most issues is ma. You’ve bounced around from job to job and changed places so much I think potential employers are very reluctant to hire you because they can see your history of not sticking around ANYWHERE for very long. With all that being said I think your a good dude and it would greatly benefit you to get somewhere and friggin stick it out stay somewhere and by doing that and being stable it will snowball into the other aspects of life and stuff will not be so hectic and chaotic. We all see you suffering and it’s heartbreaking cuz you’re a good dude and we want to see you be happy and you haven’t been happy in quite a long time. There is my 2 cents and it’s not coming from a place of hate or anything but from love and wanting to see you excel and be happy. Hope things get better for you 🙏

Mobile Mechanic is what some people do in my rural area. They have a dedicated beat-up vehicle with their hand tools and jacks stored in them. I'm sure their specialty and power tools stored in garage every night. They advertise in the community and nearby small towns on basic flyers at the hospital, apartment complexes, community centers, high school, grocery store, gas stations and probably FB too. I don't have FB so I wouldn't know. But they do get most business from the school and hospitals. They built a reputation, work ethic, and in return get recommendations. Nearest body shop and dealership is 1 1/2 hours away. Out here, transportation is a desired item. Some do have regular jobs too. Most have no job and do straight cash.

Look at going into a diesel fleet shop. You made a comment within the last few years about FedEx. Whatever happened with that?

Look into the Heavy Duty/truck field. Most will hire even if you have automotive experience and will train

Yeah, but I gotta pay for my CCW and exposed firearm permit course which is a little challenging when money is a little bit tight at the moment. Those courses aren’t exactly cheap but yes, I have totally thought about that.

@@JustinDowDIYcentralhighway Their, is one other idea, and I am sure there is no question you could get the job. Have you looked into your local Rail Road company. The bad part is long work hour but very good pay.

Try looking into powerplants. You are qualified to be an operator or mechanic. Lot of money in those industries. Tools provided good money and hours. Glad i left auto industry for industrial. Shoot, you could work on forklifts somewhere for more money. If you arent all in on getting back into that money pit than expand your job search. U can do alot with your mechanical skills

Get a job at a local parts store part time. Then work turning Wrenches for yourself and use the store to get employee prices on parts. Use your better margins to undercut competition prices and make the customer feel like they are getting a deal.
