The Zittau narrow-gauge railway in own garden
The Zittau “Bimmelbahn”, as it is affectionately known in the vernacular, drives past Wolfgang Thum's property every day in the immediate vicinity. You can hear the warning whistle and the heavy work of the steam locomotives when the trains have to fight their way uphill towards Bertsdorf. So what lay closer to Wolfgang as put a small memorial to this loving train in his own garden?
As a former H0 railroader, the garden railway virus has had him fully under control since the early 1990s. Numerous articles in the magazine "Gartenbahnprofi" testify to his extensive work. LGB respectively Märklin decided relatively late on the Saxon narrow-gauge railways and so there are relatively few garden railways with this topic. All the better for me to be able to portray this garden railway layout in the Zittau Mountains a little.
We see here an incredibly lovingly and detailed layout, where there are many self-made models to marvel at, be it the rolling stock or the buildings. Grown historically, the system is still operated analog, which affects a few restrictions in the sensitive control of the locomotives and the many possibilities of digital sound concerns. That should only be mentioned in passing, we prefer to look forward to the trains of the Zittau narrow-gauge railway in own garden.
At the edge of the layout, a small section of a cogwheel train serves as a reminder of wonderful holidays in the Alps. A tracking shot at the end of the film with a folk song from the Zittau music wagon shows us again the many details and shows the beauty of the garden railway layout.
