That is absolutely heartwarming. I know a lot of military families (we are at Lewis too) who struggle, and it truly is something that family not only deserved, but clearly needed. There are a lot out there struggling day to day-- I am grateful we are not, for now-- and it is amazing that there are people like Dierks out there to lift them up. Many people believe the military has it "made" because of the benefits, but there is a lot more in life than that, so thanks on behalf of all of us. :)

Great to see such generosity, but terrible to see such negative comments about a military hero, well done Dierks and good luck to the military family. To those of u with negative comments, would u put on a uniform and fight for others, and if u wouldn't, could u please shut up and go back into ur perfect world....a world guarded by heroes who do not ask anything of u?
@Centrinario

David Elliott That's the thing. A lot of people don't believe that what the soldiers are doing over there is good. The more foreign occupiers (which is how locals view them) you send around the world, the more world hates them. It's not the soldier's fault, he's just doing what he's told, but that doesn't mean he's doing good. What he's doing is detrimental to the security of Americans at home.

I'm pretty much thinking the Senators and Congressmen need to eat MRE's exclusively and get paid the same as an E-1 in the Military. Maybe then the troops can get some assistance from those overfed, under worked, political leaches who's only goal is to rip the country off.

It's called public service for a reason. Money hasn't or rather shouldn't have any bearing upon one's inclination to give of themselves. This preoccupation; obsession really with material wealth has completely corrupted the rankand file among law-enforcement. Salary, "benefits" are of no consequence , you're in and then you're OUT , no more than 3-4 years MAX.

Thank you Ellen for helping out troops, I'm a spouse of a 23 year veteran and I know exactly the struggles these families are going through. The soldiers put their lives on the line so other can complain and dishonor our flag and our country. And us the wives are left behind from state to state country to country. Most of us don't complain because were in it 100% along with our military guys. But what hurts the most is people dishonoring America, and our flag. Please be kind to one another ! 🥂

Please people don't talk negative and yes my father is in the army he has been in the army for 28 years he made the decision when he had my sister and me, he sacrificed so much that he had to miss my sisters birthday twice but come for mine only, it hurts me the fact that he couldn't come during my sisters birthday, money is one thing love is another, this guy gave money to this family, that shows that he would give money to a family in need then spend it on himself. People sometimes don't understand that the economy is not great and probably the government will work on that but the people in the military go through so much, just please don't think negative be supportive. If you are in the military thank you for your service. HOOAH.

He fought for their freedom? So are you saying the USA was not a free country before this then? Apart from when the USA was under British rule name one time it has not been a free country? Stop spreading propaganda. Fighting in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran or Serbia has nothing to do with the freedom of US citizens, if you think it has then you are disillusioned.
@jeremy5853

Jeremy Sang You sound just like all them dictators who feel justified in taking by force. If you feel this kind of thing shows you to be stronger then your disillusioned, it just shows your country to be no better than the up-rise of the Nazi race doing exactly the same, claiming to be fighting for the good of others whilst occupying their country.
@Annonymousee
11 жыл бұрын
PIERCED6966 wow, I couldn't agree more with this statement. As for Jeremy, I really think he needs to take a deeper look at what the issues actually are. Trying to Americanize these Islamic countries by invading them and using "anti-terrorism" excuses in order to exploit, "expand" and "show power" is just straight up wrong, evil and primitive and all it does is antagonize these societies into retaliating. Oppression is not the answer to gaining more resources, territory or power.

Secondly as someone who has served in the military for over 10 years, I can say that some pay is based off of rank and job skills. Some people do fine, others struggle, especially those with families. Be happy that someone that needed help got it, rather then destroy a beautiful gesture with all the negativity.
