This was his debut single. Came out the gate strong. Also, 'Becky' appears in three more songs of his: "How Am I Doin'", "Lot of Leavin' Left to Do", and "Am I the Only One". Pretty sure that's the right order...so if you want to see the whole story, get to them in that order.

This song best embodies my dating career in the late 90's early 00's. While I didn't necessarily have cops chasing me, or a daddy with a shotgun peppering my tail with a shot gun, there were ex-boyfriends and his buddies, there was long and fast drives down country roads in the middle of the night, and man... a whole lot more. The thing is, at the time, I was a simp, and the girls I was with were manipulative lil she-beasts, but damn they were hawt! Knowing what I do now, I wouldn't have bothered with them and went for the type that wouldn't walk all over a guy just to get what they want. You see, I was in my early 20's, and easily blinded by the Power of the Clit. Now, I'm a lot more skeptical, a lot more guarded, and not so easily twisted, but that comes from experience and with growing up. Man, if you could have seen the women I was with back then though... wooooweee!

I dated a guy who acted so polite and well spoken. He actually made me feel guilty all the time because I have a hard time connecting emotionally right off the bat and he acted like I hurt his feelings. If I didn't call him every day, and spend all my days off with him he acted so offended. My dad is really dependent on me, I have a farm, and I work full time. He didn't want to hang out here because of it being in the country (20 min drive) and wanted me to give away my dog because the dog didn't like him. Hell no. I can't believe I wasted 5 months in him. Looking back, he constantly tried to isolate me, wanted me to wear more make up(to train a horse!) and wanted me to wear dresses. He also loved me cooking but didn't want to do any clean up and was critical when the house got messy. He pointed out all the tree limbs down in my yard a week after a big storm but made no offer to help clean them up. Pointed out tall grass when the mower broke but didn't offer to fix it, even though he rebuilds card and small engines for extra cash. He saw a lot of problems and had no solutions. He did this all so sweetly and acted so concerned for me that honestly if he hadn't shit talked my brother-in-law that I adore and how much I listen to my sister(who didn't like him) I might have stayed with him.
