I heated my 1,500 sq ft old farmhouse with 2 of them 2 years ago in Wisconsin. I used 1 for most of the time running 24/7 and just turning it up or down as needed, and started the 2nd one when it got especially cold. Cost me hundreds less than heating with propane. This winter I am using a 60 Amp hour battery and solar panel, heating with red dye diesel which cost me $2.85/gallon and filled up barrels. I have the heaters inside the house with multiple CO detectors around the house. I'm adding extended exhausts, which I used before. Now this winter I'm putting flexible dryer venting around the outside of the exhausts, and adding a DC computer fan to blow air through the dryer vent starting under the heater, and breaking off before the exhaust goes out the window. Should produce 50% more heat depending on the CFM of the fan.

Hello mate, I switched to kero after 20l or so of diseasel. I run the thing at 2.1 - 2.3 Hz once it has warmed up to normal. 1Hz = 0.022cc = 79.2cc per pump pulse. So, 2.1 Hz = 166.32cc per hour = 6 hours for 99p. Every litre of kero has about 10.35 kWh of energy, so at 2.1 Hz, it is producing 1.72kWh every hour. The more heat you can extract from the exhaust, the nearer to this you will get. Leaving the exhaust open blows a lot of that valuable heat away! I am looking at using a turbo intercooler; passing the exhaust through, where the turbo-air would normally go and triple passing the room-air through the fins where the breeze would normally flow. All-metal is vital, plastic might go soggy and leak. Best of luck!

Not sure what you pay for kerosene over there , but here where I live, 20litres costs $98-$99.00+/- diesel costs $1.70-$1.98/litre which equates to around $39-$40 AUD. I'd love to run my diesel heater on kerosene but as you can see it doesn't work out so good if what you save on fuel economy is lost on fuel expense. Since the Covid#19 Virus prices have seriously gone through the roof. Cheers Mate

Do you use C! or C2 grade kerosene, I understand the higher sulphur content in C2 helps lubricate the pump. I was considering adding 2 stroke but this has a cooling effect to the burn.

interesting. also the pump does not need lubricating, unlike a diesel engine. people have run these for 5 years on the same pump on kerosene. cheers andy

So you don't use the heat in the exhaust fumes, right ?
