Thank you. This video really helped me sort out what to do with my tillandsia and really explained all the contradicting sources I found when doing an internet search. I didn't realize that the greyer/whiter they were, the more sun they needed, and was wondering why my grey tillandsias weren't doing as well as the green. Now I know.

Green ones need 20 minutes or longer soaked once per week, but silvery ones just need to be dunked once per week. Make sure they drain upside down (very important). I have had no luck with the bulbous ones, they all rot on me, turning black and falling apart.

Thank you! Mine appears to be one of the more "grey" ones with thinner leaves. I was worried it was fading or maybe bleached by too much light but maybe it's supposed to be that color. They come in so many variations it's hard to tell what you have! Great vid.

Are tillandsia tricolor melanocraters suppose to be more green or red? Mine is sage and burgundy, it is a bit young so I'm not sure how exactly they're suppose to look.

I have a bulbousa in the shady part of my room, while my others that have more trichomes are closer to the window. I mist all of them twice a week, and a bath once a month. I don't live in humidity, and right now it's pretty cold, well in my room, mainly because I have two cactuses that require colder temperatures in the dormancy. But it's not too cold at all. What would you suggest for watering them?

hi, how much water does the magnusiana need? i have one and the tips are turning brown. don't know if it's too much water or too little. it's indoor in an office by a window. i have been submerging for about 5 seconds, then shaking off the water once every other day thanks

Hi zudora1978, Tillandsia magnusiana is a real grey Tillandsia and it enjoys like other Tillandisas good air movement and elevated air humidity. But it is always dificult to do a remote diagnosis because it depends on many factors. But if you want you can send us a picture via email and then we can see if it is dehydrated or not. It would be also importent to know if your plant receives a lot of direct sunlight because that would increase dehydration. Email: customerservice@plantabrutt.eu Have a great day!

This video is helpful but vague. Words cannot objectively describe light, they can only do so subjectively and, given this subjectivity, I can only guess what brightness of light is recommended for growing a plant. Things only get more complicated when one adds the variable of latitude, as one grower's lighting advice won't be applicable, if the latitude of the viewer is sufficiently different. This is a criticism of horticultural articles and videos in general but it is also applicable to this video specifically. I, and many others who grow plants, own a light meter which measures light in both LUX and foot-candles. It would certainly be very helpful if such measurements were conveyed, as this would eliminate much vaguery and misinterpretation; this is especially so if one lacks confidence with plants.
