The meaning of raHmet as "a mercy" is just one of meanings. RaHmet is helping when somebody is helpless, so mercy is just one of ways to give somebody raHmet. If we take, for example, 55th sura er-RaHmaan we can see that He as er-RaHmaan is teaching the Qur'an, because without Him we would know about the Qur'an and without Him to teach us as our Rabb we cannot understand it. RaHmet is also help in Hereafter, when there's nobody to help, except Allah. People can also be helpful to each other, which can be expressed by participle raaHim. The difference between two words is that raHmaan is a verbal noun with intensity, and it can be understood as One which provides long help, a help for a long time. RaHeem is an adjective, and its meaning is Provider of raHmet (help to helpless). With El- added as His Name, they both mean that He can provide eternal help in everything, which is expected since He controls the Heavens and the Earth. It's important to notice that this is only about help for helpless. In other cases other words for helping were used, from this rich language.

This is so fascinating! Thank you for the share - as a person who comes from a Christian background, I can see the similarities here between Al Rahman (the “Father God”), Al Rahim (the “Son” or ALL of intelligent creation collectively and individually) and the Rahm (which signifies the MEANS of creation, or a process of creation, or the “Spirit of God breathing in Life into the Womb of matter”). It is as when a Muslim person says “Al Rahman Al Rahim” it is as Christian person would say “in the name of a Father and a Son” - but the difference is that the “Son” is NOT an individual person like Jesus (who is God’s Messenger and not God himself), but “the Son” signifies the “One Soul” out of which all souls emerged. The “One Soul” has purity of Oneness and has not yet lost its innocence to the created world. When we purify our minds and hearts - we will know each other as “Son of God” who is our “counterpart” in Heaven.

@@LearnQuranicArabic I still need to figure out how the Holy Spirit fits here. So there is One God (Eternal Source of All), the “ One Son” or all of the intelligent, “ensouled” creation - and One Ruh Al Quds - who is BOTH life giving AND wisdom endowing. In this way we have One God, One Creation and One Means of Creation (the life-giving and wisdom bringing Messenger)- who are “not three but One”. That is the meaning that “the Son is born of Spirit” - where the Messenger is BOTH life giving and wisdom bringing. Thus - life is associated with wisdom (as death with the lack of understanding). In that way - we are ALL “born” in Spirit. We are all supported with Wisdom - via the Messenger, who is the Spirit of God. “Rasul Allah” is the human messenger who is directly inspired by the Holy Spirit. He is the “Word” of God and from God’s Spirit. He is the one who “lifts the burden” of ignorance/ sin, and “releases from the shackles” of death. That Messenger is, of course - Jesus Christ (according to the Quranic description of Jesus). That is also why Jesus is associated with Al Rahim - because he is the example of God’s Mercy to all human kind. So the Holy Spirit is the means of creation and the means of UNDERSTANDING. It is the “Word” and the “recitation”. That is how we may say that “reading the Quran is life giving” - when we understand what Quran really means: the eternal recitation of God, that is Eternal, applies to All and anywhere and always. That is why the book we know as “the Quran” today has internal references to the “Quran.” One is created, and the other one is Eternal.

@@MBiernat0711 Allah has no sons nor daughters, you try to create a comparison between the trinity and Allah and there is not. Plus as a Muslim you shouldn't say Jesus Christ , as Christ means son of God in Greek. Allah wahdah Laa sharikalah. And Allah knows best

@@the_specialista6319 the “Christ” simply means “the anointed” or “Mesih”. It may sound a very foreigner term, but “Jesus Christ” simply means “Jesus the Messiah”, which is a very normal term in Islam. But who is the Messiah? The Messiah is the final Messenger- that is, he is a human being whose coming signals the end of the day, the “Last Hour” or the “Last Judgment”. The early Islam has its own Trinity - but it is very different from how we know Trinity in Christianity today. In Christianity, all the parts of the Trinity are supposed to be equal - which makes no sense since the God Creator will ALWAYS be greater than His creation. That is why today’s Christians can not reasonably argue for Trinity - and they say, “oh, it is mystery, God only knows”. Yet the Creator and creation are not equal and can not be. The Trinity in the early Islam looks different and makes more sense, at least to me. First we have God, the Source of all that is real. Then from God we have the Spirit - or “breath” or “word” or God, that creates the perceivable in this world. Why is there the need for the Spirit? Because God is eternal and creation is terminal. The physical is in time, God is BEYOND time. The physical changes -God does not change. The physical has differences -God is ONE, there is no difference or polarity in what is One. Next, from the Spirit - we have the physical reality. So the Trinity in Islam is progressive rather than equal. From One come all the rest. The Messiah in the Quran has 3 names: Issa, the creative function of God (as His Word and Spirit who can bring life to clay/ matter), Muhammad or the judging function of the Messiah - who comes with the sword (of light) to separate light from darkness (or as the apocalyptic form of Jesus who comes with the sword to separate the “believers” - sheep, from the “unbelievers” or goats) - and as Muhammad, the Messiah functions here as the Light of God, which brings wisdom. Finally, we have Ahmad - it the Messiah to come at the Last Hour. This is the kingly function of the Messiah, who will rule the world - in light and peace of God.

Dear Instructor. Please be informed that it's not AL RAHMAAN or AL RAHEEM but it must be pronounced as AR-RAHMAAN and AR-RAHEEM because the alphabet "Ra" ر is حرف الشمسية so it has be joined with the following alphabet which comes after ال. Therefore AL ال must not be pronounced except for حروف القمرية. Even when you write it should be read as AR RAHMAAN or AR RAHEEM eliminating all possibilities of incorrect pronunciations. May ALLAH AZZAWAJAL INCREASE ALL OF OUR KNOWLEDGE. جزاك الله خير

Here is my lesson on this topic. kzitem.info/news/bejne/26ifn6aAfIFznoI I prefer writing AL because it is originally an Alif and Laam. But I understand that you are right also, I guess this is the limitation of English and transliteration. جزاك الله خير

I disagree with Asghar let's observe the following: Ar-Rahman , As-Salaam ,Ash-Shukoor . One would think that Ar, As, Ash are different and not originally Al. point is, This is not a tajwid lesson but a lesson in Arabic Also the respected teacher pronounced the word correctly in the video so one would listen to him and know it is ar-Rahman .
