An older model Ariston Microgenus boiler, it has two thermistors, one before main circuit flow switch, other after. The heating thermistor appears bad, gives reading of 4.5kOhms, around 50C, even though water is very hot, like 70C. However, the puzzling part, the displag has leds for temp, and it can indicate correctly water is at 70C. Boiler works, no error code, but gives very hot tap water, even on lowest setting. Do you think boiler also reads the overheat thermostat and updates the leds based on that?

Thanks for the video. Is there a way to tell if a thermistor is dry or wet pocket before removing it?

Hi there, I have spoken to Rob in the Training team and here is his reply - "The only way you'd know is by reading the manufacturer's instructions tbh. There is no obvious sign (unless its clipped on) I always say if you don't know, assume it's wet, as the worst case scenario is you've either drained the pressure off the boiler or isolated the cold mains and drained the dhw circuit on a combi....If you just whip it out assuming it's dry you'll more than likely need a change of clothing and a hairdryer." Hope that helps.

Excellent video looks like thw Main 24 HE Combi only has one thermistor for DHW and CH NOT Two like the Baxi 105 not sure why this is? Could you explain this difference? Also would l be correct that this would be a wet pocket not a dry pocket as on the Baxi 105?

Hi did you ever find out I have the 105e that is short cycling and I plan to change the thermistor. Does the 105e have x2 thermistors ? Also what do you mean dry does that mean you can change it without draining boiler ?

There are two thermistors on the 105 boiler one is dry pocketthis is on the central heating system. the other is wet pocket on the domestic hot water side.So to change this one you need to open the hot tap after turning off the water. See video ref specific mention of 105 ref both thermistors.Lance is the profesional not me@@daveLin104
