CRITICAL NOTE: It is extremely important that before you remove the rear diff cover, you make sure that you can break loose the fluid filler plug. Before you do anything. If you do all the steps in this video 1st and then find that you cannot get the plug out due to age or rust etc. you are out of luck. You cannot top off the fluid, and you cannot drive the vehicle to a shop or store to buy a new plug to drill out the old one with no fluid in it. You will have to tow the vehicle to a shop and your cheap repair just turned into a big expense, bloody knuckles and allot of cussing.

... or you can save the money and fill it though your vent tube... or jack up one side and fill through your axle tubes. There's plenty of ways.

Looks pretty straight forward. I looked for a video because I wasn't sure if there was more to it. My 93 Silverado is pretty rusty so as long as I don't have too much trouble getting the bolts out, the rest should be pretty easy.

Never use a metal scraper on your diff !! Plastic only you can scratch the metal!!

Highly suggest an aluminum cover. The bolt holes on steel are usually bent in which doesn't give enough crushing force on the gasket between holes and you get leaks. a 1/4" flange with aluminum will guarantee a leak free seal with just a paper gasket.

Probably depends on the gasket manufacturer. This video from Fel-pro says you don't have to with theirs. kzitem.info/news/bejne/0Jx84H-Ef6OdmX4

Why you didn't use any sealENT on top of the gasket and underneath the gasket.. you'll end up with future leaks again
