With multiplier in BPM mode, powers of 2 are straight beats, powers of two times 3 (6, 12, 24...) are dotted.

You just need to hold down the FUNC button while turning the speed dial, it will then move in increments - 2,4,8,16,32 etc…

yes! great tip. my criticism was aimed more at the unit of measurement that they used. -64 to +64 means nothing to me, unless I print that table from the manual and leave it hanging somewhere in the studio. obviously in the video I say that, for simplicity's sake, I'll probably just use just the +16 speed from now on. but to me it's kind of a weird and ultimately wrong UX/UI choice.

@@BIGUMAMI I know, it’s weird that the scale moves like that, I don’t think I’ve ever used -27 for example 🤷♂️ I mean it’s good that the option is there, but I never use it.

yeah, as I said, it makes the LFOs more flexible, but not in a way that's better than... just using Hertz as a unit of measurement lol

@@BIGUMAMI This is a multiplier, the base value is the second parameter. I understand that it seems to be quite cryptic at first glance BUT there's an explanation : each parameter can be used (even modified by the other LFO) in many ways. Elektron tries to keep the architecture wide open. It's not Korg Gadget for example (that have a dedicated machine for wobbles, very fun and straightforward to use but more limited). That freedom comes at a price (not as simple as Korg Gadget) : the "mainstream" way to use parameters is not the main way it's just one within many others (I don't judge "mainstream" ways). They've found (for me at least) a sweet spot between freedom and ease of use with the digi series. Thanks for your video, I'm soon gonna try to wobble the syntakt :) (and maybe the digital too), it was nice to see you working on this. Enjoy !

yeah, music is physics too though, that's why most LFOs also use hertz as a measurement instead of a random -64 to +64 range lol
@robertsyrett1992

Completely the opposite of random. The input will be a value between 0-127 because of midi CC, so it's elektron doing the work to make the most useful set of mappings for making music. I went down a journey of fully making my own patches just to realize i was just recreating what elektron had already done. I agree there is a simple pleasure in knowing the exact frequency (and waveform), but it is separate from listening and intuitive composing. @@BIGUMAMI

at some point that becomes a matter of elektron's policy, whether to make it more accessible, but yielding more predictable results, or more obscure, favouring more happy accidents perhaps. but at the end of the day, in my opinion 866€ seems like a lot of money for the privilege of creating happy accidents... I'd rather have a more comprehensible UI - which doesn't take away *at all* from the power of this machine. but then again, people spend thousands on Teenage Engineering stuff so what do I know ahah
@robertsyrett1992

Ugh, teenage engineering is the worst. For me, using elektron boxes (i got the digitakt and the other 2) is like playing a videogame where I no longer consciously think about the interface unless I am dealing with preset management. It's not really happy accidents at this point, but I confess that it was not always this way. Ultimately I feel like the DAW has its place for the type of experience where you have total control and that's fine. The groovebox is always going to be a compromise because you don't have a keyboard and mouse with a large screen. Anyways, hope I didn't come off as too dismissive, fun video diving into the details. keep up the great work! @@BIGUMAMI
