Thanks Paul. We used the 7400 series when I was in high school electronics class.

I have a circuit that uses the 74HC14. It's good to get a better understanding of the IC's you use. Thanks again.

Paul is the 74hc14 chip and the 74hc04 similar in the testing procedures?

That was a great video. I would have loved to see how to use the chip for wave shaping. Very curious about that

I couldn't get this to work as a simple buffer. Is there a minimum input gate current requirement? I was trying to drive an LED off of the input pin at the same time. Thanks.

VERY INTERESTING IC i see 😊 I was thinking can it make Ghz too ?? Idk like 1ghz or 2.3 or 3.4 idk 🤔 just any ghz ?

Can it op-amp be configured to give the digital output when, say, the voltage changes from 0.4V? Also, is it possible to have the 'digital flip' the other way around? I guess swapping over the + and - inputs on the op-amp??

You are NOT adjusting the duty cycle, what are you talking about! You are adjusting the FREQUENCY with the pot-meter. I am stunned.

No :D Have a look at the frequency when you dial the POT-meter ;-)

They do, but I think the change in duty cycle is more like an imperfection than a controlled parameter. The frequency change is way more significant.

I agree, the duty cycle is changing but so is the frequency, in a large way. It's because you're lowering the R component of your RC oscillator

Schematics would be nice. Looking at breadboard rats nest is not very intuitive. Also, sound level please. Way too low. Finally, your circuit doesn't work the way you think. It adjusts frequency more than anything else.

I'd also appreciate a schematics. It is not possible for me to figure our how the diodes are connected to the 74HC14 and others. Thanks for anyone's help. :)

+Marc Paradis learnelectronics: Intro to the Schmitt trigger kzitem.info/news/bejne/wnt8raSKrKGCdIo Truly I do not understand it a bit ;D even though I read its Wikipedia page, watched(long time ago EEVblog episode on KZitem about it), read Sparkfun material(they explain things very well and slowly for beginners) but can't remember the topic maybe it was 555 timer IC or Arduino that used it. duckduckgo.com/?q=Schmitt+Trigger+tutorial Anyways search, read, watch videos, and most of all do, if you do you will understand what it is doing sometimes without the need of explanations. You might wanna do a Schmitt trigger with the 555 timer IC, mode # 3 (Bistable mode) here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/555_timer_IC And for doing wonders with the 555 timer IC you might wanna check that Aussie guy Mitchel and his FINE stuff about it and its projects, there is a free tutorial/ebook That guy walks you with the 555 as if it were really not a big deal. For your matter now you might just wanna know its Schmitt trigger usage www.talkingelectronics.com/projects/50%20-%20555%20Circuits/50%20-%20555%20Circuits.html#44 and later maybe discover the rest of 555 projects. www.talkingelectronics.com/projects/50%20-%20555%20Circuits/50%20-%20555%20Circuits.html Mitchel's site is a bit messy but get the pdf, html...etc. Files saved on your system cause coming back to it online makes one really dizzy! ;D Also you might wanna read a little on HYSTERESIS cause understanding it is key to understand Schmitt trigger: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hysteresis#Electronic_circuits Lastly, the best video/tutorial I seen on Schmitt trigger was this: kzitem.info/news/bejne/r6imnoOdin5yn6w Good luck

You can use it to produce negative voltage from the positive rail. You can boost the available current by using the five other gates of the chip in parallel.
