how to prevent getting decimal answers in my calulator which is TI-84 plus CE
@Tutorllini
Ай бұрын
You can't get exact answers on the TI-84 Plus CE. I suggest using a scientific calculator that can do it.

Yes! The TI-30X Pro MathPrint is my favorite (but if you are more comfortable with Casio get a Casio). It is really hard to get the TI-30X Pro MathPrint (my favorite) in USA because it ships out of UK. Here it is from eBay: ebya.io/3Hdn The TI-36X Pro is great and much easier to get in USA, the only downside is it cannot do the quadratic formula: amz.run/9Oux The Casio fx-991EX has been discontinued. You can still buy it on eBay, but there are fakes out there apparently. The Casio fx-991ES Plus 2nd edition is a cheaper option with all the SAT related functionality (I believe it can even do quadratic formula): amz.run/9Ov0 Let me know what you decide to get. I hope this helps!

at 6:59, you got the answer (49√3)/2, if i entered it in decimal form on the sat would it still count as correct?
@Tutorllini

Depends on the question. You can't type in radicals ... this would likely be a multiple choice question. This is not meant to be literal exam practice - I suggest focusing on learning the concepts and making sure you can follow the steps rather than just the answer. (Focus more on the answer when doing actual College Board questions!).

Hi Tim! No, you need to buy a license. You can do so here: epsstore.ti.com/OA_HTML/ibeCCtpItmDspRte.jsp?section=11131&item=955579&sitex=10023:22372:US

It said in skill #2 problems: What is the permeter/area in inches of this triangle. So would it be proper to solve it and give the precise number/decimal or keep it in the radical form?
@Tutorllini
6 ай бұрын
It depends on the question. It is very likely if you need an exact answer the question will be Multiple Choice (I was just too lazy to write answer choices). You should be able to solve them even without answer choices. All the questions in this video are pretty hard but they are straightforward. Hope this answers your question

At 15:20, i have the same calculator you're using to simplify the radicals. I know by looking at it it would be 100 root 3, but i put it in the ti-30x plus mp and it gave me the decimal form. All the past inputs have been in radical form so i'm not sure why this one wasn't. I even reset the calculator.

Yeah mine did that too. It gives up when the number gets really really big. It should work on SAT questions the vast majority of the time.

The hypotenuse is 10√3. But the question doesn't say "hypotenuse" it says "longer leg". The hypotenuse is not a leg. I hope this helps!

When it comes to similar triangles how do we know which is the shorter leg versus the longer leg. It is confusing in some images. For example in the collegeboard SAT question bank ID:80219788. The question in id:a639d262 is also about similar triangles. Would you please explain these two. I am unable to paste the figure here. ABD is one triangle with AB as the hypotenuse and BD the common altitude sharing with another triangle BDC where BC is the hypotenuse In the figure above, BD=6 and AD=8. What is the length of DC?

I suggest you use some symbols or color to label the corresponding angles (which will help you visualize the corresponding sides). I go over this approach in this video: kzitem.info/news/bejne/rpen3Itoanafopw Best of luck!

@Tutorllini
2 ай бұрын
Ah, no, it does not say you can round. An actual SAT question will specify (or make the question Multiple Choice). Don't worry about it! I suppose 262.98 is 6 characters => and on the bluebook app you could round or truncate to 5 characters. Truncated: 262.9 Rounded: 263.0 or 263 My original point still stands => this would likely be a Multiple Choice question.

@Tutorllini

No that is the "hypotenuse" (across from right angle) the "legs" are the sides that are NOT the hypotenuse. Each right triangle has 2 legs (shorter sides) and 1 hypotenuse (longest side). I hope this helps!

32:57 why did u by default used the isosceles triangle inscribed in circle rather than a 30-60 triangle? is it bcoz its in a circle?
@Tutorllini
5 ай бұрын
Hey Adnaan! The timestamp isn't making any sense ... but when you cut a square in half along diagonal it forms an isosceles right triangle. This is because a square has all right angles (90°) and 90 divided by 2 = 45°. There are no 45° angles in a 30-60-90. It has less to do with the circle and more to do with how squares work. I hope this helps!
