What is your go-to photo scanner? What do you think of the Epson FastFoto FF 680W?

@@rogerlapin9809 nice I like it and I love the V600 too. Maybe see if any of your friend and family would like to start their photo digitisation project and borrow your scanner! Everyone always have a ton of photos that they plan to scan... at some point!

Great video! I’m new to photo scanning (just bought an Epson FF680 to scan my late fathers photos and others I have) and this is exactly the kind of information I was looking for, thank you!

Thank you so much for your reviews and insight. I’m a novice just trying to do right by my family. After watching your reviews I felt comfortable purchasing the FF-680w to archive over 3,700 old family photos and glad I’m did. Your tips saved me so much time and effort. Fortunately my flat bed scanner on my Epson printer also does photos so now I have the best of both worlds to handle all of my photo scanning needs.

Love this scanner, despite the pesky dust issues, and you have worked us through the workings of it so well. Thx again!

Yes it is a great and really affordable option for all, if you clean it you are onto a winner. Balancing the need to clean with the speed of the scanner for me it is a no brainer!

Thanks for a really great video on the product! Is there a way to get the software to automatically detect and rotate portrait images for you or is that all manual?
@amandalittlecott
22 күн бұрын
Yes there is a setting in the Epson FF software, go to advanced area and select to auto rotate. It is not exactly perfect but better than nothing 😊

Ok. so my question is. and Im guessing "yes" but you almost need to get two scanners. the fast photo to get through all 5 million family shots and then a flat bed for Super special images and negatives. I don't think I could do all photos in a flatbed. I would probably give up. but I do need to scan negatives and slides here and there. What do you think and recommend.
@amandalittlecott
Ай бұрын
So as you have worked out, unless you have a lot of patience you are going to need something different for your negatives. You can get fast compact Negative and Slide scanners, like the Kodak Slide N Scan but they won't give as higher a resolution as the flatbed. Choices choices.😊

Is it possible to use the FastFoto FF 680W scanner on 2 PCs? I've been scanning old family photos to my laptop. My wife is now ready to start a similar project with HER family's old photos. She will want to save them to her own laptop with her own preferred file structure. How can we do that?
@amandalittlecott

Yes absolutely, either they need to all be on the same wifi connection, or use the cable they gave you to connected via USB to make sure it is easy to connect!😊

What do you think do the 680 vs the 640 Epson Fastphoto?
@amandalittlecott
7 ай бұрын
The biggest difference between the 2 is the connection, the 680 can connect via Wifi and the 640 is cables. Also the 680 can auto rotate the images, although that is not always perfect. The quality of the scans is pretty much the same, but some of the enhancement can produce different outputs like the colour restoration on the 640 can be warmer and the 680 is more vibrant. 😁

Does the software write exif tags in the photo files?
@amandalittlecott
7 ай бұрын
If you use the Espon FF software and select a date in the pre-scanning pop-up then yes it will put that date in the Capture date in the Exif tags. Which is pretty cool! 😁

whats the biggest photo you can scan and any advice as im looking to scan a3 down to 7 x 5 inch standard
@amandalittlecott
10 ай бұрын
On this scanner the largest you can do is A4 due to the feed area. For larger prints, you will need a flatbed scanner, but you don't necessarily need an A3 scanner as you can stitch scans together in a programme like Photoshop. 🙂

How can you fix the vertical line that shows on the scans?
@amandalittlecott
Жыл бұрын
Clean and clean again is the first port of call. Also I have found that if I feed the photos in a different orientation, so portrait and not landscape the lines can be reduced as they can be on the surface of the photos. 😁

Sometimes you can get a good deal if you hunt around, but the few hundred is a comparison to the few thousand for some of the scanners out there. 😁
