I've always wanted the digivice. When I was young I beg my parents for a digivice. Sadly it never happened. I'd gotta say Japan does a way better at selling digimon merchandise than the USA.

I guess it was the fighting mechanics. If it was cheaper here in our place it would have been very popular. Since like the Japanese who raises beetles for battle, in the Philippines we would take care of spiders in matchbox and battle them. I had a friend who had a digivice back then we would battle them, if you lost you will let another classmate take care of it and battle the one who won, by then would have a new digimon.

Excellent overview of the devices, really enjoying the series. I had the orginal Eng Digivice as a kid, but I vividly remember being really disappointed when I realised it wasn't a V-Pet and never grew particularly fond of it, even though I tried for my parents sake!

Loving the series videos your making. My fave device was the original English release. I remember having two of them. I do remember getting to the age where it was considered “un-cool” to be playing with such things but i still loved them and played with them in secret (my guilty pleasure of the time).

I actually think the sprites look way more charming on the English releases of the original Digivice- they're smaller, but way cuter and have a much more V-pet vibe to them, which I love- they honestly look great, they did the sprite redraws really well.

Till this day I'm still regreting that I give a friend of mine, my Pendulum when I was a kid, and I wished I didn't... When Tamagotchi was in trend back then, I really really wanted a Digimon V-pet, sadly I can't get one...So I started my Digivice journey back when I was in elementary school with the original D-3, skipped the adventure one and D-arc/D-power, while getting a D-tector and datalink/ic(never care about xros so yeah) Now, as an adult , I'm able to purchase a V-pet I've always dreamed on when I was a kid, and with new releases of v-pet from Bandai nowadays, I couldn't be happier! Please keep up the good work, I love your videos!

I had the original brown brick way back in the day use to run around this huge wooden park that was built like a fortress as a kid with it and later on when I was in grade school I had the D3, I had the green one at first but dropped it while fishing, when my grandpa took me to buy a replacement I found the black one which was my favorite. Stingmon was my favorite digimon as a kid, but it never had any evolutions I actually liked. Always felt like wasted potential for such a good insect design.

I used to have 1 or the Digivices. I think I asked my mum to get me a virtual pet one but by that point they wasn’t available in the uk anymore so all she could get me was that, but I loved it all the same and it got me into walking. Why I was hyped for Pokémon go and then the vital bracelet

I still have my blue American Digivice. I remember spending a lot of time playing with it, but the mechanics for evolution confused me, and they still do. After many hours, I was able to figure out how to fairly reliably transform when I was a kid, but playing it now, I haven't got a clue how to make it work. Whether shaking it or pressing a button, or both, I just can't seem to evolve when I need to.

That disc that was mentioned as including the Digimon directory and fighting game, when you say its no longer accessible, did you mean that the software on the disc would no longer work on modern operating systems, or did you mean the disc was used to connect to an online service with the game/directory? I have strong interest in a lot of old PC CD-rom games and its first time I heard of this, so kinda has me intrigued.
@humulomon
3 жыл бұрын
The answer is a little of both. The disc itself won't run properly due to being able to connect to a server, but you can find a working copy of the disc on Reddit if you search "d-ark rom" there. Even with a version that boots properly, a lot of features are still inaccessible due to them being online features, but having the Digimon Dictionary is still nice!

@@DigiDimension If you're still interested- I just found out about a way that seems to work for me (not sure about 100% of the time, but still seems way more consistent at least, and better than anything else I've tried) it sounds crazy but- instead of shaking it like crazy, literally just shake it in a consistent rhythm to the time of the original Digimon theme song- it does actually seem to work! Definitely seems to be a rhythm thing more than a frequency thing- attacking seems to work the same!- just tap the button in that same rhythm! This is nuts, but it genuinely seems to work! Try it out!
