On Wednesday 7 June 2017 a massive frontal system made landfall at the southern tip of the African continent. The pressure dropped to 985mb as gale-force winds wreaked havoc across the city of Cape Town. The average swell size was 12m with the biggest recorded swell reaching 19m in height. Combined with a high tide just a few days short of springs, this resulted in the coast being pounded by giant waves and low lying coastal properties sustaining damage. While photographing the carnage I shot a few video clips to try and show the reality of just how powerful the ocean was on the day... This is the result.
