the story you said about the stone is house exactly the same as the story of kamakhya temple!!!!!!!!.....I read that Narakasaura who was the srtongest ruler of kamrupa wanted to amrry maa kamakhya. maa kamakhya agreed only in one condition that he will built a temple of her, a water tank and stairs for devotees, all in just one night. He was almost complete but then maa kamakhya made a rooster to shout(you get it) before dawn which narakasura thought that he lost. But alter when he found the truth, he slayed the rooorster and from that incident the place name was 'Kukura Kata'......I don't know waht is the real story but this is what i read in book called 'A glimpse of Assam' by PN Dutta

The main reason behind people yet to discover these hidden gems is that they ain't aware of it, Assam tourism barely promote certain places due to lack of infrastructure, their main focus is Kaziranga, and Sivsagar, and creator like you fear to come due to the sensitive status we got, but these are hidden Gem and there are many such which are yet to be discovered & promoted. Special thank you for covering it up with beautiful story telling, I bet lots of people of Assam yet to know about

It's better that these places r still hidden , otherwise look at the current state of Ranghar , Talatal ghar , Kamakhya Mondir, etc. places. It is filled with outsiders and they have ruined it completely .They dirty the places and what not.

Narakasur is of Dimasa lineage.... And so our KACHARI kings had a tradition of building a temple in one night with sankalp eg Kamakhya, Maibang Ranachandi temple(stone house) , Unakoti (Tripura by Tiprasa Kachari king) We have a famous saying " Dima Raja lae horshini khusi dangba na ; maithai jaang khra jaang danginyaba khe horshi ha blaaire" This translates as" Are you working like a Dimasa(Kachari) Raja ,to complete project in one night... The work that needs years of work , is it possible that it gets completed in one night!? "

In fact my own visit was in collaboration with Assam Tourism and they only suggested that I cover Dima Hasao as one of the destinations so that people outside Assam get to know about it. We certainly need to do a lot more though.
