My personal thinking, as nation you both will be from same Tripura Community People. If not, language does not match like this way either if there is no any blood connected .I don't know why your are presenting as separate community? Every Nation's has some dissimilarities in Language. In Bengali's also has many dissimilarities in language according to area / location. They have difference local dialect. But due to similarity of their culture, faith , values, dress, food, etc.They all are considered as one Bengali nation.

In dimasa also we call that Risa not muflar, I don't know which accent in hasao. Also juthai in kokborok is chibai(informal) Very formal way is, kilimla in dimasa and kokborok it is kulumna. You two people are comparing so incorrect or blunt. And even in kokborok no one really uses kulumna it's very formal like saying namaste, only for welcoming big minister of people they use kulumna. Most of them just use Chibai for greeting friends and dimasa use juthai.

I think the problem with your thinking approach is that you are only thinking about standard spoken language. And their fault was that they only compared they know in the variety they spoke. As you know vocabularies can change from town to town, village to village, even though the overall language is same. I think in this case Boro people are more open to learn both dialect words and standard language words compared to Dimasa people are either proud of standard language to the point of denying dialect vocabulary. On the other spectrum some are totally oblivious to the vocabularies in other dialects or even standard language. In the case of Kokborok speakers, they seem to fall in the oblivious part. Ofcourse *loanwords* should be taken into consideration as you mentioned. But definitely be aware of vocabulary differences in other regions and not deny their version of languages,
@Handlebeinghighfived

@@o0...957 if you don't know then why do u say something in this field. The thing is, this are basic words which we all dimasas know in all dialects. Okay? Like muffler is an English word, the dimasa word is risa. The thing is the KZitemr isn't that versed in dimasa vocabularies and secondly, he's from hasao he speaks the same dialect as me. From his accent and everything, it's just that he didn't know the dimasa words. Also no tiprasa says kulum to friends, the other word is chubai for friendly and informal greetings, in dimasa it's a basic word again in every dialect, the word kilim for gods, ministers and high posted people like during prayers the dimasa priest always says "dai, kilim la" after the ritual. The other word for welcoming gesture is juthai, which is very informal. Juthai = chibai, kilimphai = khulumbai. So I hope now you know what the case was that he wasn't well versed in dimasa language, not that my approach was wrong. As he said the English word for the cloth wrapped around your neck, "muffler" which in dimasa is called risa, this clearly gave away, in Assamese, the muffler is called gamusa. Again if u don't believe you can perform the task of going to every existing dimasa language and ask them to identify what is dimasa muffler or dimasa gamsa called in dimasa language but that would be one Herculean task.

@@devbarmad3739 your ancestors didn't even what is handshake. It's a western thing to showcase alliance. what Chibai is, is an informal greeting, so it's used for friends or common people. We dimasas use juthai and also kukis also use Chibai. Kilimka is a formal greeting, used for people who are in High post such as the king, minister or to God. The same cognate for kilimkha , is kulumkha in tiprasa.
